    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

Dave's not here  (I really don't know that though. That's a nice fire truck though!)

    Tooele Army Depot Warranty Sticker

How did military warranties like that work anyway? Was that for cases where a unit didn't have direct maintenance support?

    I am just about done

A good example why safety glasses and other personal protective equipment is important in this hobby! I'm glad you didn't break anything on your face!

    Split brake system air pack

I thought someone just asked this question a couple weeks ago. Dejavu :p According to the retrofit manual, the air packs can be mixed. The retrofit manual assumes the existing long air pack is going to stay while the short air pack is installed. EDIT: I wasn't imagining things :ROFLMAO...

Vintage pics of M809s at Aberdeen Proving Ground

Hard to believe even many 30-somethings like me could get historical plates in NY if we were vehicles :ROFLMAO:

    XM 705 anybody ??

There's one on Facebook Marketplace listed right now. The seller claims that it's one of 36 built. Wow it looks a ton better with the cover on the back!

    Air dryer heater check (M35A3)

This is mostly for people like me who are still learning about their truck! Fall is in full swing in my part of NY, with today not getting higher than 43 degrees outside. However, I wanted to take the truck out for some lunchtime errands anyway. Before doing so, I checked my truck's...

    Tire o-ring replacement for leak.

Did you chase the clamp ring studs with a die? That makes working with the nuts so much easier. I learned that one the hard way  I highly recommend a torque multiplier. You can get a Chinese-made one off Amazon for about $80, then you'll have to find the 1" English sockets you...

    Tire o-ring replacement for leak.

I did mine with a 1/2" DeWalt electric impact turned all the way up. I tightened the nuts in an alternating pattern until they wouldn't move any more, then checked them with a 1/4" torque wrench through a 1" 1:64 torque multiplier. The only thing I didn't do was paint the studs, which in...

    Tire o-ring replacement for leak.

I'd think that O-ring leaks would be hard to detect when the tire is mounted because the only place the tire would be leaking from the O-ring would be from the gap between the inside edge of the clamp ring and the rim. You'd need a lot of soapy water for any leak there to make bubbles. Check...

    Tire o-ring replacement for leak.

I've learned that even with the wheel not leaking while dismounted, it may still leak when mounted due to the truck's weight squishing the tire. Soapy water in a spray bottle quickly became my friend ;) I discovered a few air leaks at brass fittings this way after noticing enough of a tire...

    Tire o-ring replacement for leak.

I used Oatey plumbing silicone grease on my o-rings. It's the stuff from Lowes, non-petroleum. I also wire brushed and painted the sealing surfaces. During assembly I made sure the o-ring was seated correctly on the rim with a hand and a clean paint stick. Then I seated the clamp ring and...

    Tire o-ring replacement for leak.

Thanks for that. For some reason I thought there was a lock ring design that used an O-ring, but thinking about it now I don't know how it wouldn't leak barring real tight tolerances or a really tight ring  If you're working on a bolt-together rim, make sure the clamp ring nuts are...

    Tire o-ring replacement for leak.

What rims are you working on? The regular lock ring rims or A3 bolt-together rims?

    Can’t get this to start…FIXED!!!

I've seen a few of these posts addressing multifuel fuel delivery issues. I'm trying to get familiar out of curiosity since my deuce has a Cat motor in it, but do the multifuel diesels usually have more-complicated fuel systems than regular diesels? Or is it just a quirk of this motor design...

1998 MTV M1083 Fan Clutch Engages and Shuts Down Electronics

I suggest posting your question in the FMTV section since this section is mostly for the trucks that came before the FMTV that don't have modern fuse boxes in them. Aside from that I unfortunately don't have an answer for you :( Good luck!

AM General's ATAC (All Terrain All Climate) M809 trucks?

Where do you guys manage to find these ads? I found one on here someone posted as a promo for the M35A3 and wish I had a hard copy or a PDF that wasn't cut on the edges. This is a nice find. It makes me want to get an M813 like I originally wanted, but the M939 trucks would work better for me...

Air line diagram or which TM needed?

Here's a pictures of the air and hydraulic lines of a split-circuit brake system fitted to some M35A2 trucks. I'm guessing the lines are similarly laid out on single-circuit brake trucks until one gets into the split-circuit components.

Air line diagram or which TM needed?

So three things: 1) Do the brakes on your truck work? If the air assist system is working right, it shouldn't require too much force to work the brakes. 2) What year is your truck? Does it have single-circuit brakes? 3) I don't know of an air diagram specifically for the single-circuit...
