Yes, you need the wires. They control the solenoid (I think). I had just taken a picture of my started over the weekend, so here it is to give you an idea of what is there.
Ignore the red wire. Previous owner of my rig apparently thought RED means supplemental ground.....
I'm certainly interested in the survey data as well as who requested it (if we'll ever know). It really bugs me that DMV is the one making these decisions, not just enforcing the law as it was enacted.
I know Minnesota still has the letter posted saying they won't registered HMMWVs...
You mean the hood bumpers? The two (left and right) are very warn, but still there. The one in the center has been replaced. (I'd have replaced the right/left ones, but my arms aren't long enough to hold the nut and turn the bolt. And I've had a lack of help recently.)
As for insurance, I'd...
A couple more pictures of the damage. It really is minor (luckily, could have been far worse.)
The 'ripple' on the lip was pre-existing.. but the fender WAS flat before. The accident seems to have pulled lip OUT slightly, as you can see in the second picture leaving a valley between the...
Ok, your eyes are officially better then mine. There was SOME bend there before (on the lip itself), but right where you said, the wheel arch has been pulled out a bit, and the fender is in about 1/4 to 1/2" over about a 1"x3" area.
I looked and where the rivets are, and all around it is flat...
Only way to get covered would be to hire a lawyer and sue, unless the other persons insurance takes fault. (I've been through this before). For cosmetic damage, not worth the effort. Actual damage? Then ya, I'd try.
But since the police didn't feel it necessary to go and create a report, it...
Yup, already had an alignment schedule for Monday..
Yup, traded insurance info. As soon as she gets home with the HMMWV, we're calling out insurance company to get this on record. I only have liability.. so I'm on my own for damage. But I need an accurate record of the damage, IF we find...
It was a car, I'll get pictures when she gets home.
She said it all looked straight and true. She drove HMMWVs (ambulances) for 10 years, so I trust her ability to look at the vehicle and decide if it's a death trap. :). (She is the reason I found and bough this M998. She'd been driving it...
I loaned my M998 to the housemate to use as a pickup truck to get something. 1 block from where she was going, making a right hand turn.. car behind her decides to pass her on the right! (Edit: she was making a LEFT turn, and the person decided to pass her on the LEFT on a 2-lane road, marked...
If I leave the 2-man on in the summer, I'll either take off the doors or use my regular doors with the windows that unzip. As for the rear curtain, I can always unzip the center bit for some more ventilation, but so far this fall it's not really been an issue.
Regular vs Arctic:
* Regular is just a single layer of fabric (vinyl?) so little to no insulating
- "Soft" plastic windows
- Windows on doors unzip, to open
* Arctic is insulated/pleated (the insulation kind of looks fiberglass like, but more dense).
- "Hard" plastic windows
- Windows...
Other folks sell the tool similar Milcommoguy's pictures. It's not the cheapest thing in the world, but boy is it useful!
Also you can use a combination of a piston compressor and a turning tool, one of the TM has instructions for building the tool.
I've been buying parts mostly from MacMotors and Kascar (Real4wd) recently. So far I'm pretty happy with the results and the parts I've gotten seem "real". (I wouldn't call them "cheap" though.)
I did buy my 2-man arctic top from Eastern Equipment. It was exactly as advertised and cost what...
The Natron unit plus matching TSU are in stock at a few of the regular places. I just bought one, last week. If you want to know where from message me, don’t want to break any advertising rules.
I wish I could find it for you, but my search abilities have failed after a day of work... But there is a thread somewhere here with a picture of all of the various boxes and listing the corresponding TSU (or glow plug controller for the really old boxes).
I've got my rig in a 2-man setup right now, so hard to get behind the drivers seat. I've been putting it with the first aid kit in the side area by the batteries.
Seems to fit beside the first aid kit perfects. (The bracket that is there was already installed on the vehicle from the...
Take a look at the box. Does it have two sockets on the front (under the dash) and one on top (in the engine compartment)? If so it's one of the newer style boxes. If you only have one socket under the dash, and one in the engine bay it's an older style box.
Below is a picture of my KDS box...
