Sounds like a classic wire chaff and subsequent SHORT, I was surprised how quickly I have real wear on the wires that go thru the holes between sheet metal just from the drive train vibration, fix em add rubber grommets and chaff guard , it really works.

check the air pressure gauge as well for a leak on the pressure supply line at or near the gauge, Just had a bad one myself, very hard to hear it until its real bad.

Don't be intimidated , they are very easy to work on and actually well built. some fabrication skills help for those times one needs to BUILD a part. all simple square angles and M parts for the most part. You can do it!
