I just added washer or three below the bolt that acts as a stop the slide disk cant slip above it. That was numerous years ago. solved the problems. It has never opened too far since. Yup my metal springy thingy was broken too.
Am slowly aiming for expedition vehicle too. Just remember.... the bigger the wheel the easier to physically steer in difficult conidtions you may end up in off the beaten path. (leverage advantage) Also slower steer input.... so it is harder to over steer in knarly and or scary road...

yes on M1079 helping. Or Ambulance box (non military) which is designed to also take a roll if you adapt and mount correctly. (better the Ambo builder more this is true) The A piller seems to be the weak point on the cab.

did you ask if they could "get them"?? sometimes sales folk assume buyer want's "now" and don't offer to put in an order when they could (risks loosing commission to next sales person, who calls you when they arrive) . Ken may not have his sales folk on commission though
those bypass oil filters appear to be just cyclonic oil filters which are amazing. There is a few aftermarkets that operate on same "sorta" centrifuge spin theory. Say sorta because there is a few other cats in the bag that are involved beside just centrifical particle seperatoin
yes their has been reports (Sean Filner) where fairly short time (two highway trips I think it was?) it essentially disappeared into Narnya. Seriously .... it left the chat..... when he removed tires for other reasons..... there was none left...
take a picture of the finned electrical gizmo behind the tire that the heavy wires go to. Post them up in here. Am curious what they put on it. From pics think we can tell If it is an LBCD or a standard Rev. Polarity protection device. 100amps usually only had Reverse Polarity box. Granted...
hmmm. that could be taken further. Don't remove relays.... but instead wire one or two post of them them to relays operated by a keypad. Key's on pad wired to their own relay's that break the ability for just the right OEM relay(s), to work (grounds them out or breaks power reaching them??)...
