Excellent points. Luckly for me ... same reason needing lot of bolster allows me to slip by them in mounting the cab.... am skinny lol. Being pretty much a life long gymnast helps too.
if you go offroad..... then get something with good side seat bolsters to limit bebopping side to side. Your spine will thank you and you will be less tired on such drives
that rules out an Acert being swapped in it, so unless it is an odd animal (and it happens) its a 3116 (aka..... engine swapped in later up the road by military... usually have black valve cover) so you should have giant sticker on top of yellow valve cover...
check where harness plugs into transmission. Also someone while back pinched one of the harnesses in bottom of transmission as they re-installed pan. Something to think about.
isn't these trucks; beside the better engine ..... maybe alternator........ (but doubt it since the trans is same alison at 24v) exactly same as FMTV? Axles..... gee's there is bunch of them out there.. but yeah you will have to wait on the mail. So plan on towing a Jeep or similar to get...

look close at your MTV truck. Note that portion of the transmission sites above the upper chassis rail. To clear the transmission you will need either a third chassis rail.... or put a dog house in you box to hump over it; if the floor plan allows for it.
you will find more info on mechanical side of things in the FMTV forum on this board. Pretty sure their is a thread or two on removing the second trans cooler. Thing someone even layed it down between frame rails and kept it.
there is numerous threads in here on this. Searching them out and reviewing them will give you some hints on the needed socket sizes. This will help lead you to buying a kit that happens to include all or most of the socket sizes you need. Usually I think there are three sockets in the kits.
