    Radiator cover

It would be nice if there was a small Velcro flap that you could reach for us southern people that get weekly temperature swings all season. It was 72 last week and 34 today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

what cordless tool are you using to get your lug nuts off

Just read this entire thread..... Thinking of the 1/2” Milwaukee high torque one. I already own several makita tools. Hate to switch brands at this point, but not that big a deal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

what cordless tool are you using to get your lug nuts off

Looking at getting a big cordless impact gun. I see a lot of the Milwaukee Fuel ones on YouTube. I already have some Mikita tools. Is there any reason not to get the big Makita one vs the big Milwaukee? Need it for lug nuts and big things on M1083 for scale. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

DIY camper box construction- what sizes/wall thickness steel or alu have you used?

I would buy the book from Ulrich Dolde (spelling?) on diy camper building. He explains the different types of methods for dealing with subframe isolation. I am building on an M1083, and plan to use rail on rail with springs for my truck. That was not an easy decision, but I deal good about...

    M1078 Air/Hydraulic Pump Electric Replacement

The guy that told me about the safety lockout removed the valve body and the pump only fed the cab tilt directly. He said he had to add the needle valves because without the valve body restriction, the piston would lock up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    M1078 Air/Hydraulic Pump Electric Replacement

I have heard that if you have too much flow, a safety valve will shut and lock the piston in place. May consider a needle valve on both sides to adjust flow rate. But I am curious what someone that knows more than me comes up with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

DIY camper box construction- what sizes/wall thickness steel or alu have you used?

The best thing is to allow the vehicle frame and the camper subframe move separately. There are hundreds of pages of that info on expo. You do not want your camper to stiffen your truck. That is a recipe for breaking something. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

DIY camper box construction- what sizes/wall thickness steel or alu have you used?

My plan: Steel frame. The bottom will be a bit beefy with captive springs holding the box to the truck frame. Wall framing will be max 2” tube. Other places will be angle. Insulation will be 3” xps foam. So, no exposed steel. Deciding still on mounting of interior. May run small offset...

DIY camper box construction- what sizes/wall thickness steel or alu have you used?

Their boxes require a torsion free subframe. They are limited by your subframe and what you want to hang off them. For example, they do not work well with large rear overhangs and spare tire weight. They prefer a flat reinforced back wall if you plan to hang the tire on the panels. Sent...

In need of a M1078 Front windshield and a little about me, "The New Guy"

This site has a lot of information.... like controlling CTIS. That information will help you get started. Your list is very impressive. I am curious what your priority for each one will be and the order you plan to get them done? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

(Was) Stranded in North Florida Woodbine with second blowout and no spare anymore. Case resolved.

Nice! Still looking forward to someone posting a video on YouTube. Is there any issue with dangling the drive shafts like that? Thinking a lot of side pressure on a seal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Snow chains on FMTV tires

I re-read the TM for a 1083 regarding snow chains. They only listed instructions for the rear 4 tires. Is that because there is only a trick to get them on the back or are they implying that you should not install chains on the front wheels? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Radiator cover

Anyone ever feel the need for the radiator cover installation? I read the TM, but the temperature they mentioned installing one was not all that cold. Barely freezing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Snow chains on FMTV tires

I watched a YouTube Army training video on installing the chains, but they did not mention the little cable piece. I could not tell by looking at one what it was for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
