Have the stack covered with a can since you last drove it??? If not what you are seeing is most likely water mixed with soot. Rain gets in there and makes some nasty crap if you don't keep things covered.
I too have the 'frodo" cup holder. One came with the truck and i recently added a second before the aberdeen run. Long distances in that truck seem to suck the moisture right out of me. Gotta keep a couple beverages handy. Not to mention that IF i ever find a woman to ride along she need a spot...
Running into a couple time issues at the moment. Plan at this point due to time constraints is to get there friday night and head back south sat afternoon sometime. When exactly depends on how much i can tweak things around here. So could me in on the friday camper plan. Thing is i gotta work...
Looking fantastic. When you showed me that hookup for your intank pump last week i was blown away. One of those perfect marriages of just the right parts to pull it off without extra BS or hassle. Myself i plan of a couple spare jerry cans of fuel and to start with a full tank, should get me...
That sucks, hope you can find a way to get it in there without all that work. I hate to hijack the thread a bit but..... Just noticed you posting the specs for the PTO and some prices. Just so happens i still have a PTO for sale if anyone is interested 350$ or BO. See pics here...
IMO letting it idle for a long time is worse than letting it sit, a lot worse. Diesels hate to be run cold whether that be under the ideal operating temp or just under no load for a long time. You get wet stacking and fuel can simply wash down the cyl walls and cause premature wear. If you can't...
Now here is where the terminology gets confusing. There is the LDS 5 ton turbo and the LDS 427 turbo. So you can't say anything about LDS turbos in general. The ones we have jinx are the LDS 427 ones.
Well, for future ref here is the oddball. Looks like we got a winner. You get just a hint of a whistle under load above 2000. Just enough so you know you have a turbo but nothing excessive. Sounds nice outside the truck when you let off the throttle at each shift too :-)
Here is the solution that Ethan (RIP) came up with. I have been doing the same thing since i got the truck. Haven't taken a pic of it myself but i found this in the pics that he sent me when i was looking at buying the truck. 7 foot cable lock and the correct application with a padlock make it...
With my setup it runs the 3/4 inch gun with no issues at all. If i was running a smaller gun i prob would have skipped the additional 5 gal tank. I wanted to be sure that no matter where i was or what the situation i would be able to get those darned lugnuts off so i went overkill a little. The...
I too was concerned about the weight of a bunch of 1/2 air hose and the space it would take up in the toolbox. Solved the issue slightly differently. Got a gladhand hookup with a quick connect, to that i hook 25 feet of 1/4 inch airline. Between the gladhand and the fitting under the dash i...
