Remember they do shift from side to side beween the 2 rear axles. Stuart, to me it sounds like you have a alignment issue with the rear axle, I would look at those torsion bars, I bet one is bent. Possible your drivers side. Let us know what you find.

Everything that rosco said is right. If you are going that far, check your lines. The armor spring really likes to hold mud. There is also the location where the line runs through a hole in the frame crossmember that likes to collect dirt there too. It will be by your right rear shock mount...
