New to me M936A2 engine idle / load issues

https://cumminsfiltration.com/sites/default/files/MB10106.pdf Any Cummins dealer, Frtlnr, Peterbilt, KW, etc. should be able to find it. It is a Cummins Filtration product, not a Cummins part. Another thing I thought about, the idle stop adjuster has a tendency to wear if the engine has been...

    NHC 250 Valve adjustment problem

Accessory drive timing could be off, could have a beat in seat or a dropped seat. With the adjuster back in the lever, are there about the same amount of threads sticking out of the exhaust as the intake when the lever touches the cross head? If you remove the cross head, is one valve higher...

New to me M936A2 engine idle / load issues

Yiu said the fuel system was full of "tar". Cummins makes a cleaner that works wonders, I have seen it work on the dyno. The 1 gallon p/n is CC36096. You will need to make up lines to pull from and return to the can it comes in. Give this stuff a try before you go into the process of having the...

    CARC 383 paint sources?

Maybe try posting in another forum to get answers? Like one related to your vehicle and not a "website help" forum. Just sayin'

    M8 Greyhound help

I indeed made traces of the original gaskets for future use. Hopefully, we will not need them! The fuel pump is now wired so that it can be turned off so the engine can run itself out of fuel. We have talked about using AV gas for these older vehicles, but I am worried that the high octane and...

    2019 SoCal Fall Rally

You guys are mind readers! Again, the weekend the jeeps go out. Saltydeuce, Go buy some Barrs Leak, 3 or four of the small bottles, Pour the contents into a strainer and wash off the liquid then put just the pellets in the cooling system. We used to do that all the time at Cummins when the old...

    M8 Greyhound help

M3 and M8 are the same but different. W/P, head, probably the rods, crank, gear train will probably swap. The block is different, but the same, there is a casting on the w/p side that, on the M8, is machined out for the oil filler/crankcase vent. Carb, exhaust are unique to the M8 as is the oil...

Soft top install with ring mount?

I used strips the plastic pipe for electric wires....forget what it is called. Put them between the cab and leg, works good. If you used the ring for it's intended purpose, easy peasy to unlash it from the cab and roll it to the windshield frame. Careful, hot brass will leave a mark!

Leaky M809 manual fuel shutoff valve

They can be repaired, just make sure the o rings you get are viton or something else that ULSD won't attack

    Oil pressure NHC-250

The next port down or up the rifle from where the sender for the gauge is. And, an FYI, There are no TS trees for "lubricating oil pressure high" from Cummins, only for low oi pressure.

    Oil pressure NHC-250

The pressure is regulated in the pump. The oil pressure is taken from a galley after filtering. It is possible for the crappy baldwin filter to be normal baldwin junk and the oil is bypassing the filter, cummins will bypass the filter if the differential is too high, dirty oil is better than no...

    M8 Greyhound help

Last of them....The floats needed adjustment, the book had a picture of the tool used to bend/adjust the floats, it wasn't in the kit, so I made one. Now, onto the clutch and brakes. Thankfully the throttle has been converted form hydraulic to a Morse cable!

    M8 Greyhound help

Rebuilding the carb, again, nice to have the proper tools and books. After the carb was installed, I put new oil and filter in the engine, had to re mark the stick, it was marked 3 qts too low. The engine fired with little cranking....would have lit faster if I remembered to take the cap off of...

    M8 Greyhound help

Since the packing date was way before I was born and 2 years after my father was born, I wasn't surprised to find the gaskets hard as nails, that is an easy fix and I could have made new gaskets if they were destroyed, so they were re hydrated in boiling water. This will make the gasket pliable...

    M8 Greyhound help

After the pan was back up, the engine spinning freely and spark again...amazing that, when it takes 400 amps to spin an engine, you can loose spark!....on to the carb issues. The vehicle has an electric fuel pump on it, but we think it was putting out too much pressure, so a 1.5 to 4 was...

    M8 Greyhound help

It has been a productive couple of week at the Museum. No pics before of the crankcase in a dry condition, but here are some of it after using the pre lube system. The "washers" are the felts that go on the pick up tube/screen filter and the scavenging pump discharge on the windage tray. The...
