Another DUWK accident - Woman killed

That looks like a traffic accident, whereas most of the other incidents have been mechanical issues of varying sorts (wheels falling off, dukw sinking when it dies in a commercial traffic lane and is struck by an unmanned barge, etc.).

    Georgia Rally for 2016 ???

Thank you to R4x4 and Porky for answering so quickly. :) Beretta and others: Yes, the rally is in full swing for 2016. This is a big deal: It's our 10th official Ga. Rally. The dates are Oct. 19-23, 2016. We are finishing up the artwork for the 2016 shirts and as soon as it's done...

Rebuilding, Installing, and Aligning the Jeep Ross TL Steering Gear

That is a phenomenally good thread (on the rebuild, I haven't finished the install thread). It was very gracious of you to take the time to document the process and of Moses to answer all those questions. Every Jeep, whether it's the MB/GPW, the MC or MD series, all have sloppy steering boxes...

    DUKW video

Expert backing director. :) The rearview mirror on a DUKW is the most worthless thing I've ever seen. Like "man in flip flops" kind of useless. Don't even know why they bothered.

    1st and Reverse Grinding

First, don't apologize for bumping old threads. You're using the site exactly like it's supposed to be used. In answer to your question: Yes and no (yes on grinding, no on damage. Here's what is happening: With the engine running, transmission in neutral and clutch released (pedal out)...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

Not saying I'm not impressed, but I'm a little worried about Coffey1. I don't wanna' see a thread saying to send wishes to him in the hospital because he went 168 hours without sleep.

Oil pressure drops when engine warms up.

If your current guage is mechanical, don't get your hopes up. You absolutely should check the pressure with a 2nd gauge, but don't expect much difference. What you need to do is have a machine shop check the crankshaft, they can tell you if it is worn out enough to need to be turned undersize...

    GA Registration cost

You meant 1986 and newer. Also, older than..... I think it's 1963 and they flat out will not issue a title, even if you have a current one from another state.

Smyrna GA MVPA event at adventure outdoors

This was a fun event last year. My Dad and I got there at the very end, but there were a few 6x6's and a handful of Jeeps. Not a big event, but small and personable.

Would it be possible to swap 2.5 ton axles into an M923a1?

There is a lot more that goes into an axle's weight rating than the strength of the housing itself. A good example would be the difference in size between 2.5 ton hub bearings and 5 ton hub bearings. The difference is enormous-I don't know the relative sizes off the top of my head, but the 5...

    The age old transmission question

You know the G749 series does not use the later G742 style of Rockwell axle?

    The age old transmission question

The standard thing to covert the M135/M211 (G749?) series to manual transmission is to take the entire CCKW transmission and transfer assy and make them work. This is a phenomenal amount of work. If it were my, I'd rebuild the Hydramatic.

    Rear main seal

Put your 3/4" on it. If that doesn't work, put the 1" on it. :) Remember, the bolt pattern on the flywheel is asymmetrical. It will only go on one way. Be prepared. C
