I've flat towed M37's a lot...
Only had a problem twice (and that was on the same trip) and that was towing one behind a Dodge one-ton pickup when we had to make a really sharp turn (u-turn in one case and exiting a gas station in the other) and it didn't want to come back to center...
The correct dimensions for the bows are on my site. A lot of folks have either extended the sides up so that they don't have to bend over as much when moving around in the back, or shortened them so that they can stuff the truck into a garage...
My measurments where taken from a couple of NOS...
As some of you might know, I have agreed to host the Southern Power Wagon Spring Gathering this year.
Since my Dodges are all M37 (and varients), and my friends who know the trials better than I all drive M715s (and varients), it will actually be a combined Southern Power Wagon/NCMVPA event...
Just a reminder (and for folks who don't know...):
We (NCMVPA) have a monthly meeting on the FIRST SATURDAY of each month. Meeting starts out at the State Capital for the Vietnam Rememberance Ceremony (along with NCVVI and Rolling Thunder) at 11:30AM (park your MV on the sidewalk near the...
You don't say what Branch of Service.... It makes a difference...
If your truck is and Army one, you want to go with OD. If it is USMC, then Forest Green (34052 is Lusterless from Korea), USAF would call for Strata Blue (but it could be green for a vehicle that was "in country"), Navy would...
Looks like a nice one in the photos... Congratulations.
As far as the EUC is concerned: Use the on-line fill out available on the GL website, use the same form for the name/address that you have for your driver's license, home phone (landline) if you have one since it makes it easier to do...
Re: RE: 12 or 24 volt M37
Most folks I know who want to run 12v headlights do so because they think that they are less expensive. Considering how infrequently I have burnt out a bulb in 24v systems compared to the ones in my 12v stuff, I don't think that that is true from a life cycle...
Guys,
I'm bidding on a pallet of stuff down in TX at Hooks/Texarkana... Is anyone on here avaible to do a little expediting work? I'd rather have someone on this forum pick it up and put them on a truck headed to NC than to go with a total unknown...
Thanks,
Great to see another green machine hauling folks in a Christmas parade. I managed to forget to take my camera to the parades that I participated in (five), but a buddy of mine did take some at the last one (Tanner, what happened to the photos??? Share!!).
It's my understanding that only the wrecker varients have the governor. The cargo and dump trucks I know for sure don't... Mine are also 'twitchy' when cold. I just play with the foot throttle until it's warm enough to use the hand throttle or drive... Afterwards, it'll idle just fine...
Color information (using Federal Standard 595B catalog):
Solid body color:
USMC Lusterless Forest Green - 34052
USMC Semi-Gloss Forest Green - 24052
Stencil color:
Yellow Matt Finish - 33538 (use with Korean era Lusterless Forest Green)
Yellow Semi-gloss - 23538 (use with Vietnam era...
The knockout for the ductwork for the Perfection Arctic Heater is actually between the fender bottom edge and the passenger door... The instruction manual for mounting the kit are on my website (MWO/Technical info page) and may be of assistance in comparing differences between this truck and...
Nice truck.
Continue to lightly sand (by hand is better than a DA) the hood sides, the underside of the hood, the tops of the fenders, around the fuel filler, the dash, the rear bumperettes (should have duplicates of the front bumper markings), and the tailgate to check for other markings. I...
I have a sketch of the SC-C-189025 standoff bracket used between a scoop mount and the bed side of a M37 or M35 when mounting the MX6707 antenna base. Bracket is used in order to prevent the base and antenna from contacting the bed side (especially the upper bed edge). The sketch is on my...
Speaking of West Coast mirror assemblies... I've got the newer rectangular mirrors with the two in one "split" head on my M817 dumptruck and I would much rather have the older style conventional 15x6 flat glas head plus some nice round convex mirrors.
I've actually already mounted a pair of...
Congratulations! They are fun trucks to drive (and to work upon...).
Since ACE didn't say it: Get the manuals... :) Best deal is the 3/4 ton CD set from Military Media (about twenty bucks) that has all the M37 manuals on it so you can print out the pages that you need while working on an...
I'd love to attend as well... but I promissed the local Veterans' group that I would put five of my vehicles in thier parade on Saturday... :)
Take a bunch of photos... I'll do the same...
Re: RE: 5-ton winch on m35a2
If you wanted to follow ACE's advice and swap for a duece winch, I have one that I would love to trade for a five ton winch... The more I look at my M35A2C and how I use it, the less that I want one on the duece...
I'd really like to have a winch on my M817...
