M37 - new here hiya ... need some advise please

RE: Re: RE: M37 - new here hiya ... need some advise please Real quick (I've got to go meet a client in a couple of minutes), I can see that you have a B1 instrument panel (can tell by the dash lights), the glovebox door has an interesting latch on it and I can't tell if the dateplates are...

M37 - new here hiya ... need some advise please

The big difference in beds is in the troop seat hardware. Since the B1 trucks had the spare tire mounted over the driver's door, the the troop seats are full length on both sides of the bed. The slide for the troop seat brace on the passenger side is all the way forward (matching the...

    East Coast Convoy 2008

Yep, the Yellow (southern) Serial is pretty much running the same schedule as in the past... I'll be spending Wednesday night at the hotel in Doswell, eating at the Denny's. Hopefully, we'll have a handful of folks with us that night, and another joining us in the morning (and more along the...

What's up with GL auction prices?

Just to add a tad about that wrecker that I think we are discussing... It belonged to a vehicle repair/maintenance unit... It has all the bells and whistles, was very well maintained, and everything works... I know the guy who used to administratively own it...

    M809 series wheel cylinder replacement

Thanks for the pics and writeup... I'll have to remember it all when I am faced with this job... :( I think that one of my best Aberdeen purchases has to be the 1" impact wrench (air powered, Ingersol-Rand) that I got a few years ago for $5... :) Last time I had to swap a tire on a five...

i need your input please on 5 tons

Re: RE: i need your input please on 5 tons Geez, that's not good IMHO... I cringe as it is when I see some combinations running down the road on a flatbed behind a pickup in my area... Glad I put in the disclaimer to check the local law... :)

    lic. plate light

In NC, the law (I can look up the statute and post it if folks are that interested) states that the tag has to be visible for a distance that translates into its having to be lit... In the inspection procedure, there is a line to be checked off for the tag light... However, in NC, you can run...

i need your input please on 5 tons

Just remember that you most likely (I put this in because NY may have some variences in classifications...) will need a Class A operator's permit if your trailer has a GVW of 10,001 or more. A "standard" operator's permit is good for a vehicle that weighs 26,000 lbs or less pulling a trailer...

Year from VIN for SF97 and other SF97 questions

I've found that bodystyle "cargo" works well with my DMV folks in NC... The insurance folks don't care that much either, for them I say "cargo", then say "flatbed" (for the dropsides) as they sometimes want a bit more descriptive line than cargo... "Diesel" fits well in the DMV computer...

    1100X20 NDT

Last time I was at Berg Tire in Fayetteville, NC, they had a lot of brand new Titan 1100x20 for $100 each. They had brand new Goodyear G177 in 1100r20 for $120 each. Great guys to do business with in my experience.

Can a Deuce pull a Deuce?

I added a civilian four wire trailer plug to my M35A2C (spliced it in to the harness right behind the military intervehicular trailer plug on the duece. Picked up a spool of flat four wire color coded wire at Northern Tool one day and made a long cable to run from the plug on the duece to the...

    cummins 6bt in a cucv

www.dovebid.com handles the sale of the Frito Lay (and other) route vans with the 4BT and such... Sales are all over the country, and they give you the contact info for the on-site managers so you can talk to the guys who have been wrenching on the trucks before you bid. The transportation...

Cab/personnel heater & gas fired heater for m37

Don't know of any hood blankets floating around. A buddy of mine who served on the DEW Line in Alaska in '60-61 told me that the only time that he saw them used was the last half of December 1961 when it stayed 50-60 below for about two weeks.... His photos are on my website at...

Just when I thought I knew everything!

I can get my M35A2C up to 56mph a lot faster that I can get my XM813 to 56mph (comparing both after they have warmed up), but: With a MEP-005A in the back and a M37 on the towbar the deuce will drop right on down to 30mph on the interstate while the five ton with the same load chugs merrily on...

    Worcester MA help needed

I've talked to the guy who has the top and it's mine if I can figure out how to get it home... I want it for my XM708... A couple folks have PM'ed me about this and I've sent out some PM's. I'll keep folks posted as to progress. Thanks.

Cab/personnel heater & gas fired heater for m37

There were actually two different personnel heaters for the M37 that mouted on the driver's side fender, one hot water and one gas fired... I have seen both types mounted, but don't have enough info on either instalation to do a decent page on my website for them. List of personnel and power...

    helitool disc brakes ?

rsuiter@helitool.com To quote the email/posting from Ray at Helitool that he put on several other forums (need to tell him about this one)... "We arrived here in Chiang Mai, Thailand end of April and have spent the last 8 months setting up our machine shop here and getting our lives here more...

Cab/personnel heater & gas fired heater for m37

Rosco, Great looking truck. Looks very "at home" in the snow... :) I'm interested in your heater ducting. In the photo it looks like you are running the air out of the heater and down through the cowl in front of the driver's window. Every M37 that I've seen has a round knock out on the...

    Worcester MA help needed

Anybody live near Worcester MA that could snag a CCKW top (for a M37) and either haul it down to the Aberdeen MV Rally in May or hand it off to somebody who could get it closer to my place in NC? I've got a line on one that I would like to install on a XM708, but getting it home is the tricky...
