The only reason you need to align the red mark is the "Quill Shaft" has a cover on it with a "half moon" cut-out. You did remove the "Fuel control" assembly right ? Then sometimes the "Quill Shaft Cover" can shift and catch the "plunger drive gear" . You will then have to pry out the hydraulic head. This will bend the cover, but you can bend it back once the head is off.

Yeah, these early model alternators don't stand up well. Now the newer Delco replacement units can "take a licking and still keep on ticking" !

Remove the sending unit from the fuel tank. It probably has a ton of corrosion on the sliding contact. Usually GM tank sending units only last ten years tops before acting up. I just replace them.

I bought the "King Pin Spring" eliminator kit too. Just haven't installed it yet. I think most of the "Death Wobbles" come from this defective part.

It should work fine. The LED's might not work properly though. Depends on the LED's.

You need to make sure the "plunger sleeve pin" is fitting in the "plunger sleeve slot" . See the attached picture.

If you fill it to the top it will leak out the front shaft. There is no seal there. Fill it to the top of the fill plug only.

The buses here use "Sikaflex" and rivets to hold on the aluminum panels. The stuff works great ! If the metal is clean, the bond you get is tremendous.
