Got the truck back, today.
The roof rack is 18 inches tall. The stack height is about where I expect the top of my camper will be when it's built. The guy didn't put the HEMMT seats in because he couldn't figure out how to do it. He didn't even put in the passenger seat - I suspect he just...
I did a web search for an a3 cap and couldn't find one. I did find a hmmwv cap which is listed as 4.65 inches (outer) diameter and I think I might try that. Considering it sits over the top I'm not worried about any incidental moisture getting in there.
Just found this, says it fits a 5 inch...
This begs the question. Does the a3 cap inset or fit over and what is the diameter?
I have an a3 intake that I haven't installed yet, and I'm also in need of a cap. The outer dimension is 5 inches.
The most economical way takes time and knowledge.
Your best bet is to do an advanced search and you will find several threads on the subject. Putting aside the threads on adapting what people can cobble together I found 2 steering boxes mentioned the most.
The HF54, as mentioned in this...
Asked the guy for an update yesterday, he sent over some pics and I dropped by to take some more. He got the top back from being laser cut and was mounting it. He had an engine hoist in the bed to hold it in place so he could get it all situated properly and tack it. He'll be adding an...
So, my first welder bailed on me, and after calling EVERY welder/fabricator in town and some in the next (I need to live in a more depressed area), I found a guy who restores hot rods who said he could fit me in.
He showed me a mock up of the roof done with cardboard, the metal is out being...
He didn't update this thread but he's got a post in "What did you do...", post #8939, that shows a parts truck which I assume is the one he's talking about here.
Well, aside from age many of these trucks really don't have all that many miles. Also, while in the military they would've been well cared for...except for those stuck in a back lot to rust before and auction.
Any engine/vehicle can suffer catastrophic issues even in the first 1000 miles...
So, aside from problems with the injector, my deuce has really done well by me. I've put a few thousand miles on it and driven it over the Cascade Mts. 5 times now.
I'm making a few changes with the idea of going on some serious, potentially months (years?) long trips. Is there...
Finished my sliding battery box. I also upgraded the cables to 4/0 - I really wanted about another foot of length to each cable and figured I'd move to 4/0 since I was replacing them anyways.
I had to go with 4 rails because each pair is rated for 148lbs. and with 3 batteries and the box...
In case you don't have this, it might help.
Also, if it's just for parts, can you put it in neutral and tow it out? I'd think the price would go up if you got it to run :)
I was thinking, when I build mine of putting 2 solar panels on the roof and rigging up some sort of portable sliding cover on the other side of the roof that I can pull over the panels so I can then set up some deck chairs. Have a rope railing attached to telescoping anchors at each corner...
If this has been posted before, well, I searched and couldn't find it, so I'm posting it now in case anyone does a search under the title key words. When I searched I did find threads but with no specific numbers, just advice on how much would probably be good enough.
The ground/negative wire...
