Did you ever check the injection pump "Booster pump" ?
A good place to put a test pressure gauge is just before the injection pump hydraulic head. That will tell you if you have enough pressure for the pump to work.
Then after checking the Booster pump, check the "Fuel Delivery Valve" in the...
Your correct to take the factory numbers with a "grain of salt" . Also what a lot of people don't seem to understand is a 1/2" impact with great torque numbers still is not the same as a 3/4" or 1" impact with numbers very close. I know the heavy duty 1/2" Milwaukee is suppose to handle all this...
Thanks "cucvrus" . I didn't even think about the differences between the truck and blazer models.
We had a great Thanksgiving today to !
Got a little sick eating to much though ! I've been on a diet for two months trying to drop 50 Ibs for my hernia surgery. So when I ate what I would normally...
That is what I was referring to. Their usually called "Hydraulic Wheel Jacks or Dollies" . The lever one is also called a "Wheel Dolly" thus the confusion.
The AT540 is not geared lower, it just doesn't have an overdrive gear. Fourth gear is still 1:1 , and first through third has very comparable ratios to the Spicer 3052/3053 . Plus you have the multiplication factor of the "Torque Converter" which is usually 3:1 .
I do know what you where...
Well I have a 30 CFM Ingersol-Rand compressor. It's great, but recently I took off all my wheels to have them galvanized and I used my 1" long shaft air impact gun to remove the lug nuts. The impact weighs in at 30Ibs. After removing and then installing all those tires my arms where falling off...
Mine did that too. I found the latching mechanism had "slipped" a tooth so they where out of sync with each other. It is just a long wire which pulls the other latch, and mine got bent a little. Probably due to sticking stuff under the seat. After measuring the latch positions and putting them...
The Allison AT540 doesn't have provisions for mounting at the sides. Basically think of a TH400 on steroids. It only mounts on the rear. So your using the engine mounts to hold it in the frame. Almost all heavy duty diesel engines have provisions on the bellhousing for side mounting to the frame.
The problem with them is they cannot handle that much weight. They are usually only rated to 200Ibs. WE used them a lot at the transit department. They would usually only last a couple of months before breaking. You could build your own out of heavy tube that would handle the weight, but then...
I agree with 50shooter. Check the injection pump "booster pump". They are often neglected. Due to their robust build they can take a lot of abuse, but they will fail eventually. The in-tank fuel pump cannot build the pressures the injection pump needs to operate properly. You can sometimes get...
Install the 383Hi-torque in your truck. You'll be amazed at the power and torque this engine has to handle heavy loads like that. I took out my 6.5L diesel, sold it and bought the Hi-Torque engine. Best engine choice I ever made. Of course if I could have afforded a DuraMax with an Allison...
Normally I would just replace a battery that had that much damage, but if you where in a pinch that sounds like a really great idea ! As long as the plastic battery housing doesn't melt it should work fine. I guess you could put some aluminum around the terminal to protect the housing.
I forgot to add, the special pry bar I used to get the ring up is a "Snap-On TR100". They cost about $72.00 . There are many different types of pry bars out there, but this one I have found has worked the best for our military wheels .
