Something a little different here. Military Watches.

Interesting reads both, but neither really delved into the top watches. The top was "Hamilton" followed by "Waltham" then "Elgin" . Hamilton was bought by a Swiss company in 1969 and is still made today. A excellent book to read about watch repair is "The Watch Repairer's Manual" by Fried. Get...

    M35A3 W/OW ....winch installation's ?

For one the transmission is an automatic in the A3 so you need a different PTO. Second, the winch is Hydraulically driven. No shaft like the regular deuces. So you will need hydraulic hoses and valves. Third, you will need the actual A3 winch or adapt a regular deuce winch to use a hydraulic...

    Engine knocking LDS-456

Yes, there pretty much identical. There's just the early style and the later style pistons as far as I've seen.

Something a little different here. Military Watches.

That's a great story Guy ! Made me laugh good and hard ! Also brought back memories of the Corp. I've worn watches in the past, but the "pocket" watch is my favorite. I keep it in the watch pocket of my blue jeans. For those to young to know, the right side pocket has a smaller pocket inside...

    Engine knocking LDS-456

I talked today with my machinist about this very issue. I brought in all my parts and asked him how much to make one or three for me. He's looking into it now. Also as an aside he thinks it would be no trouble to make a "transmission upgrade kit". Meaning the gearing would be the same but it...

    Engine knocking LDS-456

Many of the large diesel engines run solid wrist pins. In fact that seems to be the norm for them. I've used old wrist pins as punches and press pins. Good solid metal.

    Engine knocking LDS-456

The Multifuel engine original design had oil cooling passages in the piston just like the MAN diesels do today. I'm not sure if they still make them though. If you cannot find some then you need to weigh this new piston and compare it to your old pistons. It needs to be the same, give or take a...

    Engine knocking LDS-456

Sounds good. Did you take a straight edge to the heads ? I've found several that needed machining due to warping. I believe the cause was loose head studs and the high compression of the Multifuel. I plan on installing "ARP" studs when I rebuild my engine.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Well at least you did an excellent installation job ! Looks great ! All jobs like this seem to have major problems. Nothing ever seems to go "just right" . All mechanics believe in "vehicle Gremlins" . You need to leave out some milk or better yet beer for them the night before you start a major...

    Dual fuel tank install

Well Patracy gave me my answer. It seems people get confused between eBay "auctions" and eBay "stores". So the moderators decided "all" ebay links are bad.

    Dual fuel tank install

So no one can give me an answer ? I've read and reread the "rules" and can find nothing about posting to a "store" . In fact the rules state you can help someone who has a problem and needs a part. Just like I posted. So what did I do wrong here ?

Anybody keep their Deuce outside with an RV Cover over it?

If you use a cover you have to be careful of condensation building up in the cab. I have to cover mine since my rear window has been out for several years now. Really need to fix that. Doesn't bother me to drive with it like that, but the rain does come in sometimes. I keep an electric heater...

Something a little different here. Military Watches.

You guys are right. I watch is a tool and as a mechanic I always tried to buy the best I could. My father taught me that, just like I'm sure Guy's father taught him. These Hamilton's where used originally to move the trains "safely" . Since trains share the same track, you needed to be sure you...

Something a little different here. Military Watches.

Also quite rare. I've only seen two Military watches come up for sell in the past year. I bought the one. I couldn't afford to buy the other too though. At about $350.00 per watch on average, it really starts to add up. I've paid up to $480.00 for one watch, that was the 1909 model. The lowest...

    1952 M135 W/Winch

With the full pressure oil system you can take your vehicle on most any incline with no worries about oil starvation. Also it provides for a higher revving engine so more power, plus you get a much longer engine life. If your the government agency procuring military vehicles wouldn't you want...

    Dual fuel tank install

I guess I'm wrong then. I have seen many others post information links to "stores" weather it be on eBay or elsewhere. I know your not suppose to post about any "auction" unless it is over. So we are not suppose to link to stores now too ? Not getting snarky, just asking for the future.

    1952 M135 W/Winch

Most people don't know this but GMC/Chevy and IHC where some of the first production engines that used a full flow oil lubrication system and not the old "splash" system use by Ford and others back then. I think it had to do with keeping their military contracts, that is just my opinion though.

    brake issue reo m275

The deuce's brake system when properly maintained is a real stopper ! Yes drum brakes can be a pain in the butt sometimes, but it will stop your truck ! To bad they never made an "air" brake system for the deuce though. That would have been real handy.
