Requesting Help in San Bernardino 1089 A1 Brake light, turn signal and emergency flashers not working on Expedition build.

As long as the relay is going click along with that green LED… On the A1, Power From CB71 passes thru the energized contacts of K10, thru the steering column switch and thru the DE-ENERGIZED(pin 87A-30) contacts of K21 and K22 (left and right rear light relays) And on to the rear lights. The...

    M1089A1 Trans Cooler Question

On the A0, they ran the bypass coolant from the thermostat housing down to a port on the left of the trans heat exchanger, and that is exactly what it does, it dumps all the engine heat into the transmission until it warms up(horrible way to run a diesel). They did away with this “feature” on...

    M1089A1 Trans Cooler Question

I found it with a search, It was Ramdough and we were discussing new hose lengths for his cooler relocation back by the axles. Here is a pic of the unit in question Located right behind the transmission...

    M1089A1 Trans Cooler Question

On the 4 wheelers, the trans fluid flows forward thru a heat exchanger on the lower radiator pipe, dumping its heat into the coolant that is headed back towards the engine. The cooled trans fluid then flows back to the trans. Basically the same as any automatic trans pickup… On the units with...

    M1089A1 Trans Cooler Question

The 1089 has a liquid heat exchanger/cooler down between radiator and oil pan like any other LMTV, so you shouldn’t be overheating just the trans if you are not working it hard enough to need an aux cooler. If I recall correctly from a discussion with a gentleman who was relocating the aux...

    Fmtv no more dual voltage

Most everything except the lighting is 24V, but the main ignition switch uses 12V to energize the control power relay (K02) that powers all the 24V circuits… Here is an abbreviated start circuit diagram I condensed from the A0 tech manual. You might need this When it comes time to start it:)...

    Fmtv no more dual voltage

If you are missing the other smaller device in the above pic that Ohiobenz posted, that is an instrunment shunt, used to measure current flow. It is placed in the main ground line between battery and starter and can measure crank current and total alternator output back into the batteries. The...

    Fmtv no more dual voltage

Yea, that is the polarity protection box. It is just a set of diodes that prevents batteries that are connected backwards from doing damage in the cab. To get you off the lot, it can be bypassed, just don’t hook up your batteries backwards. In the attached pic, connect the wires circled in...

    CTIS help

Actually looking back in the spicer manual there is a caution against controller disconnects, so I stand corrected. In the case of this CTIS troubleshooting, securing the main sw will serve the same purpose. If it secures the tire deflate, the controller is most likely providing the signal...

    make retainer cables

West marine stores usually have bulk cable, crimps and crimping tools. I have made my own right in store…. If you dont have one near you, I am sure they have it available online…

Hooking LMTV to shop air for CTIS troubleshooting

Hooked to the ctis port on the wet tank the air will get a chance to shed moisture in that tank. The times I have applied air to the truck I have not noticed any moisture buildup in the wet tank, but other than when filling tires I havnt run all that much shop air thru it..

    CTIS help

I believe superman has seals and valve cores for the main body, but they are pilot operated valves, so there are seals on the solenoids themselves and I don't know if he has those or not.. he may have a whole PCU, but you will need to contact him…

    CTIS help

Since it does not have a shutdown sequence and it is secured by simply disconnecting the source power, I would find that highly unlikely. An unplug or shutoff from the main switch, does the exact same thing…

    Need oil pressure sender LMTV

Yes. The gauge, when powered, sends current from the sense lead, thru the sender resistance to ground. With nothing connected to the sensor lead the gauge should read zero, if you ground the sense lead it should go to full scale… Yes. The gauge, when powered, sends current from the sense...

Hooking LMTV to shop air for CTIS troubleshooting

I put a street T right above that point where the CTIS pressure switch is located. That was a little easier and is 1/4” NPT…

Hooking LMTV to shop air for CTIS troubleshooting

The front red/emer glad-hand feeds two places. 1. Thru a check valve to charge the wet tank. 2. The upper 2way behind the drivers grill/behind drivers step. Sounds like tgat second line or the fitting at the 2way is leaking…. It only sees pressure when you feed air into the emergency glad-hand.

Hooking LMTV to shop air for CTIS troubleshooting

Think you got that backwards. The emer gladhand that pressurizes the system and releases the park brake is on the passenger side service glad-hand that applies the service brakes is on the drivers side…

Hooking LMTV to shop air for CTIS troubleshooting

Yep, front emergency(red) glad-hand charges the truck air system. use a regulator set to 120 PSI. It also releases the park brake, so chock the wheels… Applying air to the front blue service glad-hand applies the service brakes. The problem with troubleshooting CTIS is it works in cycles, so...

    CTIS help

If it stopped dumping when you disconnected the controller or shutdown, that actually sounds like a controller issue, not a PCU. Shutting down/disconnecting should remove all input from controller to PCU. Without input the PCU should stop whatever it is doing and vent any pressure, which...
