The Spicer 6453 OD transmission (installed in M809-series trucks) superceded the 6352 non-OD and will fit any M39-series multi-fuel LDS or Mack powered truck.
I installed the correct Meritor dust shields on the new air brake spiders. I scored four sets BNIB for $26 free shipping.
Like the M818, by the way[thumbzup] Nice to see another M809-series owner on this thread.
Did you mean wedges, by chance?
I had to use wedges on the front axle. As of now and to my knowledge, there is no readily available s-cam application for Rockwell top loader steer axles. If something comes about in the future I will upgrade.
I completely rebuilt the fronts and re-lubed with...

I found the correct dust shields that fit the particular spiders I used. I was going to annotate the p/n to the list I posted a while back, but it won't edit anymore.
So here it is...

M809-series trucks (including the M818 ) may go in reverse in low range transfer. It's the M939-series which have complications in low range reverse. Do a transfer case flush and see if it clears up the issue.
Here's a couple threads pointing you in that direction...
On Saturday, Aug. 15, I went to a car show with my Dad and his '30 Ford Model A benefiting the Semper Fi Fund. It was out in Downey, CA at a cool retro Bob's Big Boy coffee shop/drive in. It was nice HOT 95+º day.
This was the longest road trip since installing full air brakes on the truck. All...
Well, I'm going to call this project complete. Last Saturday I installed the front brake chamber hoses, but without the full spring guard. I took it on drive down to a nearby self service car wash. These brakes on this truck are a dream compared to the old air-hydraulic. I have to get used to...
Remove the air routed through the transmission twin poppet valve to the sprag declutching cylinder and the sprag will default to neutral. The front shaft will then be disconnected from both the transfer case and the axle. I believe there was an MWO applied to some M809-series trucks that...
I plan to finish up tomorrow and call the job "complete" making the truck full mission capable. I will install the hoses from the frame to the front air chambers. But, there will be some small additions beyond that. I do have on order some hose spring guard to add a little more protection in...
Yesterday, I finished the plumbing to the air dryer.
As I posted before, I used 1/2" braided steel teflon hosed, two 10AN 90º swivel fittings and two 10AN to 1/2" NPT adapters for the discharge line. I used a 1/2" NPT hex coupling attached to the nipple already on the air compressor to attach...
With the axle caps on, king pins greased and brake dust/cover plates installed, the front tires went back on this morning. I properly torqued the lug nuts and axle cap nuts.
A word about the cover plates...bolt them onto the spider before you install them on the knuckle. The bottom most...
