The pics Castle Bravo posted (the one from Boyce?) when compared to an M813 put the amidships axle in the same relation to the fuel tank sans mudguard. The rear frame is only missing bumperettes.
Does the M815 share the the same chassis as the M813? I have noticed the longer frame overhang in the rear and, what appears to be, a single left side 78 gal. fuel tank.
It was definitely part of the M809-series of 5-tons. It was not a very common truck. Basically a military version of a logging truck. I have only seen them in TM drawings and photos. The photos were on Boyce Equipment's website, but are now gone.
Most of the installs I have seen put the control boxes in the upper rear corners of the cab. That's how I made the decision to put mine where they are. It seems more natural to reach up slightly over your head to adjust the box than toward the middle of the vehicle while driving.
On Friday, I removed the driver's side window to replace the bottom lift channel. The channel was nearly rusted through. It pretty much fell apart when I was removing the window. It was a simple rebuild and much worth the effort rather than buying a whole new window. Unfortunately the rusty lift...
I mounted the AM-1780 with the large angle between the seats above the cab tub rear lip.
The flat control box plates were mounted using loop clamps to the rear cab top support bows. I used two CX-4723 4 ft. cables to connect the control boxes to the 1780.
The power cable ran down behind...
It was actually a couple of weeks ago, but I installed a VIC-1 system in my truck. I bought it all on eBay. The headphones cool as they may be will not work with the system. However, my CVC helmets will. I have also sourced some nice h-161 headphones.
I fabricated the AM-1780 and C-2298...
Thank you. I just sent off the report for the specific thread. I understand that sometimes privileges have to be suspended due to inattention or abuse, but is there any way that the editing function can stay with OP/seller for the duration of the ad?
Again, thank you, Gentlemen.
I have sold an item and now want to remove the ad from the Parts for Sale forum. However, the edit post icon at the the bottom of the OP no longer exists.
This is also problematic when a need arises to edit sale ad content once the ad goes beyond the allotted time period. I have maintained all...
I wish you both a speedy recovery.
In addition to the aforementioned, if you are working in the engine compartment, be wary of where you leave your tools. While working on top of the engine on my M818, I stepped out to the right fender and onto an open end wrench. The wrench slipped outward and...
I agree with the G177's. A much better tire by far. You may be able to source those locally to you. I got mine locally, but I don't know if my source is still good for them. PM me if you want their contact info.

I do get a lot of [thumbzup][thumbzup], but I also get some sneers because of the political inclinations of the majority of people in my neck of the woods. I just shine the haters on.
Everything on the tailgate with exception of the yellow warning plate and black star are on magnetic backing...
I installed the rear aluminum tail light housings/bezels today. I am short one LED bulb for the stop lamp (on order/in the mail) so I subbed the the right with a 1683 incandescent temporarily to keep it legal.
That's funny [thumbzup] I didn't like the cheesy plastic ones and they just look...
I painted the the rear/rear service/spring brake chambers flat black to blend in better with their surroundings. I also added coil spring hose protector on all the rear hoses. In doing so I discovered a hairline cracked 45º street elbow on the left/rear spring brake port. No biggee...easy fix...
