This is a close up of the push-to-connect air brake fitting tee which delivers secondary service pressure to the spring brake valve control port and then on to the first double check valve.
The tractor protection valve and second double check valve are mounted up in the left frame next to the...
Well, I'm back for a little thread revival. I finally installed the PP7 trailer supply valve (Haldex equivalent), TP3 tractor protection valve and reincorporated the hand trailer brake control valve. The install included two double check valves (AKA shuttle valves) and all the associated tubing...

The door seals are all the same for all model trucks.
I recently retrofitted my M818 with full air brakes; s-cams on the rear and M939 type wedges on the front.
I did plumb the the front gladhands to supply and actuate the brakes. The emergency gladhand was plumbed directly to the wet tank which supplies air for everything on the truck including...
Oh, and started the install of a tractor protection valve, two check valves, a trailer supply valve and associated tubing and fittings. This will fully complete the air brake install once I receive a shipment of some missing fittings.
Replaced the left side fuel tank strap rubber. The original stuff had dry rot all over it. This is not the most common rubber to find.
I added two GI military angle head flashlight holders to the back wall of the cab tub. I bought the holders on eBay. They were light green like the interior of...
saddamsnightmare:
The "wet tank" is formally known as the supply tank in an air brake system. It is the tank plumbed to receive air directly (often through an air dryer) from the compressor.
The Graham-White valve I have is the classic manual valve as opposed to the "all-or-nothing" electric...
The Nathan P3 in my M818 is plumbed with 1/2" directly from an 8.5 gal. wet tank through a Graham-White metering valve. I can blow a very deliberate grade crossing (Two longs, one short, one long) and the needle barely budges. And, I have full air brakes also.
Keep the G286's particularly if they have little wear and no checking. They are a good radial and leaps and bounds above NDT 11.00 X 20's. I have seen in service trucks shod with them.
I am biased in this respect. I love the look of the duals especially when viewed from the rear and M809-series...
I assume your truck is an "A0" or A1. Here's your spec....

Here's a couple of ideas for other paint schemes...Sorry, for the shameless hijack:oops:[thumbzup]
Some years ago Los Angeles County Sheriff had a small fleet of Deuces and M809-series trucks painted up in all black with white doors sporting the SHERIFF script and star on the doors. They have...
On Monday this week, I was able to install all four sets of dust shields. The top shields are simple to put on as there is not much obstructing access. The bottoms are a little more difficult but manageable due to the torque rod seats and their mounting bolts. I used grade 5 3/8" x 3/4" bolts...
