I finished modifying the boarding ladder I got a while back. I cut the bottom step off and about half of the tubing to the second step. I bolted up a couple of Curt 10K lbs. tow hooks to the ladder so it can hang on the open tailgate lip.
In order to haul it around, I mounted up two aluminum 1...
Thanks again. I have a whole grip of hole saws and I have that exact size and mfg'er in the tool box.
Between the leaking lube and built up paint, I can see why yours had the issue. The learning curve is always present with these trucks.
The cover and PTO gaskets come back as the same p/n. They are item nos. 29 and 67 respectively on those -34P2 pages I listed. I got two of them in a transmission gasket kit I got on the Bay a while back. I checked and rechecked the p/n's before installation. They're pretty thick heavy duty...
From the -34P2, pgs. 447-1 to 447-3: p/n 8327322. TM also refers to them as gaskets and only one is called for per the -34, pgs. 16-230 to 16-231. Parttaget.com listing puts the thickness between 0.084 inches minimum and 0.104 inches maximum. Just shy of 1/8" thick. I put one on my truck and I...
Makincold...thanks for the response. The hole in the mounting brackets is a good idea. I think I'll do the same. This is a bad design feature on the original equipment. The hole provision should have been there from the start from the manufacturer. Put an adjusting screw up against a solid steel...
Disclaimer: I have searched the following question extensively to no avail.
The drum on my 20K lbs. front winch spools out to quickly resulting in some bird nesting of the wire rope. Easy fix and after consulting the -20 TM, I firmly understand how to adjust the tension of the drag brake. Just...
I had the PTO to winch drive shaft retubed (.120 wall) 6 1/2" longer this past week. The drive shaft with my winch kit must have been from an M39-series truck. Found a great hole-in-the-wall drive shaft specialist who did the work fro $240. That's beats the heck out of buying a new one for $350...
Installed the winch PTO to included all new gaskets, studs, washers and lock nuts this Saturday. Pretty tight tolerances when putting on the side nuts. I installed the linkage, shift lever and neutral lock during the week, so the clevis rod from the PTO shift lever just needed to be adjusted and...
:ditto: Negative ground battery cut-off and a locking ball valve on the fuel supply. Locking door handles and padlocks on everything. Nothing is foolproof, but give the would-be-thieves more hurdles to overcome and your property becomes less enticing.
Thanks, Ron. Words to live by. I followed the TM to the tee when I did my rear main seal/clutch job employing both torque wrench and dowel pins. BTW...That transmission is a PITA to line up even with dowel pins.
Here's my bell housing when I removed it to get to the rear main seal. Threw me...

Actually a few weeks ago, I mounted up a medium towbar in the bed...
About a week ago I got a nice boarding ladder. Now I just have to modify it a bit for fitment and rig up an on-board storage solution...
This weekend and finishing up today, I put in an ammo box center...
I mounted the rack to the cab tunnel using some ¼” bolts, nuts and star washers, reinstalled the straps and mounted up the ammo boxes. They are perfect fit and an almost as issued appearance. This mod is perfect for all M44 series 2 ½ ton, M39 series and M809 series 5 ton trucks as there cab...
A while back I finally decided to get rid of my bench companion seat and install a HMMWV driver’s seat on the passenger side. I wanted a center jump seat set-up, but I just wasn’t finding anything I liked or would fit in between the two seats. Then I decided to I wanted some sort of center...
Last week I mounted my towbar in the bed using a HMMWV pintle and an extra bumper tie-down mount.
Today, I repaired the t-bolt on the left/front fuel tank strap. The fine threaded original somehow galled up when I was replacing the standard nut with a lock-nut.
