    My tip for spare relays

Yep, 5 pin for all... why they specced 4 and 5 pin relays without making their sockets non interchangeable was stupid... like the different color cases. add some drops of grey and black paint on the PDP under where each relay plugs in, and you have almost made it idiot proof.

Black wire with 1/2 in round eyelet metal tag say L 53 near starter on 1083 ??????

That schematic is near the back of all the 20 series manuals 20-1 thru 20-5. In 20-1 it is about 1650 Pdf pages Into the manual. In the 20-2 it is about 1350 pages, right before the sample change forms all the way in the back...

Black wire with 1/2 in round eyelet metal tag say L 53 near starter on 1083 ??????

It is seen on foldout 7 of 34 in the electrical schematic. It is TL 53 (tl stands for terminal lug). The other number I circled is B47 which are the map coordinates where those wires are found again. Using the Letters and numbers found around each page, you can trace the circuit thru the many...

Black wire with 1/2 in round eyelet metal tag say L 53 near starter on 1083 ??????

It runs up thru several connectors to the STE/ICE connector by your left knee when seated. So basically it is not used:) it’s exact function is not clear as the specific functions of the wires connected at the starter are not shown in the schematic. It is either used for the STE to remote...

CTIS Overspeed indicator flashes at 30 mph

Go to fleabay and search this: Used? Eaton Air Regulator Valve for CTIS in FMTV LMTV MTV M1078 ???? or this: Used Spicer CTIS Air Regulating Valve, 19207SOCN12418057 for FMTV LMTV MTV M1078 the second one has the relief valve(used as a regulator in deflate mode).

M1078 starts runs for minute then loses electrical power

Well if it is an A1, the LBCD could be sensing something wrong and disconnecting. the truck is supposed to keep running thru this though so it may be something else in conjunction with this. You need to connect a voltmeter to the Ground, 12 and 24v test points at the power dist panel in the...

Have you checked your bellhousing for oil?

Yea, my plug has been out since I brought it home, no oil there... Knock Knock:)

    3116 turbo upgrade ??

Yep, thats what I suggested. The top port is using a Reducer, I would put a larger T fitting there. Was contemplating Removing that small line, but you need to keep it to help get air from the high point of the thermostat Housing up to the expansion tank When purging the air from the system...

    3116 turbo upgrade ??

Yea, thats the heater return port. Besides the lower rad hose, it is the lowest port on the waterpump. I think I would T into the line a little lower, where the stainless pipe joins to the rubber hose...

    3116 turbo upgrade ??

Yes, but the way you described it is backwards. the ports on the water pump that have fittings on them are inputs/return ports. The only pump output is on the back of the housing where it is sealed to the block with an Oring. Using Supply and return ports above the turbo will preclude...

    Elusive M-1078 Fuse Panel Help

Pay heed to what NDT said. Some use 12v coils, some use 24v coils. Some positions use 5 pin relays and some use 4 pin, but both will fit in ANY location... a 4pin in one of the 5pin locations will cause you issues.(no crank, no run, alt wont come online, low beams wont work ect). If you are...

    3116 turbo upgrade ??

I wouldn’t call that the best plumbing... the two places the water lines are connected to are effectively the same pressure. The water exits the pump on the rear of its housing, flows back past the oil cooler then thru the block toward the rear, past where that rear most turbo water line is...

What's that? Right from the ECM

They can repair an internal power supply but they cannot change the battery on an ECM? yes, the designers were hacks... they used a volatile memory that would kill the ECU when the memory battery died(Lot of money in proprietary parts)... Supposedly cat changed this design...

Plumbing a water cooled turbo on a 3116?

You would have to modify the oil feeds to rotate the center section a little. As I recall the constraint was you don’t want the oil passage More than about 15-20 degrees off of vertical as oil pooling in the turbo is bad. You want the oil to drain away cleanly after shutdown. Because of the...

Plumbing a water cooled turbo on a 3116?

It doesn’t really matter where the coolant comes from when running as if connected properly the coolant is pumped and traveling far faster than thermosiphon will move it... The delta to the hot center section is so high The difference in coolant temps is not as important. You just need enough...

Plumbing a water cooled turbo on a 3116?

I have seen different ways done on marine plants, but it is easier having unlimited cooling capacity right thru the hull. Most of the water cooled turbos are simply plumbed in parallel with the charge air cooler(liquid to air intercooler). About the biggest difference is many use a wet...

    LMTV Conversion to 12V

Basically yes. The 12 and 24 lines from the alt already connect to the battery. So you would connect the 24-12 converter to 24 and ground, and connect the 12v converter output to the old alt 12v line and disconnect the 12v line from the battery(Battery is only 24V). Or connect the...

Plumbing a water cooled turbo on a 3116?

Thinking about my last post a little more, you could probably divert that line from the thermostat housing to the expansion tank completely and send it all to the turbo. There really is no need to pump fluid to the expansion tank, it will still get coolant exchange Thru expansion/contraction...

Plumbing a water cooled turbo on a 3116?

Yep, all the trucks have the liquid trans cooler and the 5t and tractor variants have an additional air trans cooler in the loop. I would be careful using the heater lines as the flow thru the heater loop can be shutoff which would start the non flowing coolant in the turbo to boiling in short...
