    questions for california owners

My2cents. Registration: Historic Tags (Ref. CVC Sect. 5004). I used a DMV proxy service recommenced by a fellow SS member. Worth the extra fee. An Historic plate is only as restrictive as you allow it to be. Remember, you're either driving it for maintenance purposes or your going to a car...

    Totaled Deuce Gets Rebuilt

Looks more like a bulbous protrusion to me8-)

    Disabling your deuce

Remember your secret cut-out switch is supposed to be "secret". I put a locking ball valve just behind the fuel filter on 5-Ton in addition to other electrical safeguards. Cuts off fuel flow and maintains prime during filter changes...two birds with one stone.

M932A1 with shorter drop side deuce bed

These trucks are what happen when let Deuces and 5-Tons have too much "alone" time in the motorpool.:wink:8-) Given the wide turning radius of these trucks, the short w/b models (tractor, dump and bolster) lend themselves to better maneuverability. I looked at an M813 initially. But storage...

Tires, how cracked is too cracked?

Looks like your avatar personality could use some A$$istance;-) I wouldn't put something cracked like that were the rubber hits the road, but I would put it in the cab...

    Choose your words carefully!

rofl roflrofl OK,ok, let me get it together here....NO, wait... rofl When I worked on the UP Railroad, I actually preferred using hand signals. The radio was an annoyance, especially when other crews were stepping on your traffic. On the railroad you never say "stop". It's "That'll Do". The...

    spray paint for the rims

The Rustoleum Camouflage Khaki has somewhat more of a brown tone versus the lighter more, yellow, if you will, Rapco 686 Sand. My trucks initial paint is more of the brownish tone, so I can use either one...I'm that picky about the mismatch. After all, my rims are black, jerry cans, bow kit...

    spray paint for the rims

The Rapco Spray cans are very good investment. An outstanding product. Always buy by the case, it saves you a little on the back end. They will split cases...last case I bought were three 383 green and nine 686 sand. I always try to keep it on hand. When I am on my last can I order more.

M932A1 with shorter drop side deuce bed

That is a nice and effective use of space between the bed and spare tire/utility box rack. Ingenious mounting points[thumbzup]. Which bed lining product did you use? Did you sand/media blast prior to application or apply straight up? I have been wanting to do that since I got the truck.

5-Ton battery relocate and secret battery shut off

I have the same switch installed on my truck. It works flawlessly. The locking feature in the on or either off position (clockwise or counter-clockwise off center) is positive and solid. No chance of it moving. I wired mine between negative battery terminal and frame ground. When in the off...

    M809 Fiberglass Hoods

I've got an itch to replace my hood. However, I don't know if I want another steel hood or one of the fiberglass hoods from Boyce. My question is does anyone have one of these fiberglass hoods or seen one up close? If so, are they a sturdy decent product...and, no, I don't intend to walk on...

M900 series exhaust on M809 truck.

Have you thought about routing the exhaust along the underside of the right frame rail? Remove the original muffler, you won't need it with the 939 muffler in place, and tie directly to the exhaust header. I'm sure with some flexible exhaust tubing and a little imagination you would not have to...
