I didn't know Lexus was building military trucks? It looks great with a lot of attention to detail...platoon sergeants around the world would be proud[thumbzup] Burning question...did you put back the red fuzzy dice?? Those are cool...got a black set of dice myself. A gift from the wife.
:driver:[thumbzup]:grd: I take it that is one of Hundy's creations? Lookin' nice. Can't tell in the pics, but is that a solid green or 3 color camo soft top? I'm looking for a solid green and Erik's is out of stock and he doesn't know if he will get more.
Nearly forgot:doh:...Here's the link to my battery box project which includes before and after photos...enjoy...

More upgrade pics coming soon...I just have to get around my nagging time deficit...
Running 50wt Rotella HD engine oil in the 818 now. I made the move after reading many discussions here and other sites regarding this same issue. I have driven little since, but it is feeling a little smoother.
:ditto: Agreed. Luckily my good neighbor has a CA CDL A no restrictions and full endorsements.
Another word of advice. Rent a commercial truck (not a U-Haul or Penske "Joe-Blow" moving van) that is OVER 26Klbs GVWR, standard shift and air brake equipped. Avoid using your MV. Between the...
Big_Papa...I agree with most who have already posted. Get it and be good in the eyes of the law. Was sort of a necessity for me, one, the litigious nature of our society (especially in CA) and , two, my employer would hang me out to dry if I was not following the law.
Please do not succumb...
I installed one of these kits on M818. It does require some modification as far as the frame mounting goes other than that it fits right in place. I like it much better than the standard M809 battery box set up. See the my OP...
The day I picked up the truck I cranked over the engine and there was the terrible squeak. I thought it was a loose belt at first. After a quick troubleshoot, I nailed it down to the exhaust bracket. However, I toyed with different ideas for quite a while on a cure 'til I found this one.
Copy and done[thumbzup] Thanks for the heads up with the error in the original post. I must have "fat-fingered" the keyboard:doh::cookoo:...I guess I should stick with copy and paste. Glad to be of service. Let me know if you have any further questions.
I ordered it from McMaster-Carr. Here is the nomenclature, dimensions and part number:
Neoprene Vibration Damping Sandwich Mount Male/Male, 1/2"-13 Thread, 1-1/2" H, 3-1/8" W, p/n 9213K62
Catalog page:
McMaster-Carr
It should be noted that the neoprene version withstands temperatures of 180°F.
Meanwhile down at the station...
"Hey, Joe, remember that generator we need to pick up the Army post? Why don't you take the Ridgline and that old U-haul and go pick it up."
"Hey, uh, gee, Bob, don't you think I should use one of the brush trucks??"
"Nnnnaaaawww! You'll be fine. Besides...
Glad to hear you made it out unscathed. Someone was smiling upon you that day.
As far as your truck's disposition, there seems to be a consensus to save it. If the frame is straight and all the drive train is all operational, strip off all the damage saving the good parts. Go find a POS...
Thanks for the compliments. You are right about the steps. It takes a bit getting used to climbing into the cab. The trick is starting with the right foot. The old set-up is easier to use, but I thought the top step got a little precarious sometimes. I had it move under foot a few times...
FYI to all 809 owners for your part number lists:
O-rings for manual fuel pump...
Brasscraft #0562, 3/8" I.D. (1/2" O.D.) X 1/16" Wall purchased from Lowes
This kit is designed to replace that battery box set up. I don't think I like the idea of having four batteries in the cab and, especially, under the seat. Take a look at the .pdf instruction sheet, step 3-1...it spells out how the under seat battery box is turned into the BII box. This kit...
