Re brakes, are the F550 front a drum brake or disk? 2x4 or 4x4 have 4 brakes and your truck has 6. Have you calculated volumes? Are the outlets the same size or different on the F550 MC? Disks use less pressure and flow (I think). Size of the outlets will give an indication if it's 50/50 or...
Reply to Josh....I did that to my 931A2, then got a spark arrestor muffler which has less pressure drop, but is US Forest service approved. Then I got an L to raise it and direct it to the side, where rain could not get in, which was the reason a nearly new muffler was rusted out.
As Smike and Floridianson have said, it is dry air. Notice that is a 3 port, 2 position valve that exhausts air in the non-energized position and that it is spring return to that position.
Does someone have an electrical schematic that shows where that valves electrical supply comes from?
I don't have one to go look at, nor have I driven one. I'm trying to educate myself on their operation and how the power divider works. I have an M929 and have an M35A3 4x4 project, but no FMTV.
On the other site they described the tranny as a 6 speed and that there is a granny gear that...
Unless this is a hobby or restoration, I wouldn't replace the bed, I'd weld in patches or an entire liner. That bed does not look too bad, at least it's basically straight. Have you got it to turn over yet? I love that model. Here is an 817 I bought fixed up, used and sold.
Reading another site about the power divider they talked about it locking out the two high gears. If 50/50 is locked in in your system, will you still have 6 & 7?
Good deal man. I had one located and he wanted $4500 then he got it running and jumped to $6500. I couldn't swing it at the time. It was on a hill, where water ran out of the bed. Hope yours was kept where water would not set pooled up in the bed.
I found another that had a pool. Rust...
Has anyone looked at what it would take to disable that power divider. I know if I want to make a locked pig (differential) to put a spot of weld at four key points on two gears and she is locked, forever. Can you just permanently lock it by a couple strategic weld spots?
Other than going to 16.00, I can't imagine a tire that would give more torque against the brake than the 14.00 R20. It's going about 28" further per revolution than a 9.00-20 which is about 20-25% greater torque than the 9.00. I can't imagine a better reason to use larger wheel cylinder...
"that the previous owner has installed
new master cylinder"
"both holes in master cylinder are open".
Sorry, from these two statements, I thought it had been changed to a dual circuit.
Still, I would want the larger piston on both axles with that large of tires.
You need to change to 1/1/2" dia wheel cylinders, I believe + new clean brake shoes and drums turned.
When the A3 went to super singles they put 1 1/2" on the front and left the back 1 3/8". Prior to that, the wheel cylinder front and rear were 1 3/8". Your tire size puts a lot more torque...
I looked at your first picture and thought that the chain would un-wind but the third picture shows you changed it.
Keep up the good work. Don't drop the winch on your toe.
I found the one for my 390 Ford from your link, same people. It would be nice to have all new if it fit right.
