Something comes to my mind about the vacuum advance being in series with something else, maybe governor, but I don't recall details (or even if it's the same machine, sorry).
Is the end of the distributor shaft a slot? How did you solve the length issue? That's probably why I'll install a...
I priced a good 20' container not long ago, one that is not all beat up, at $1750. The "one trip" ones are over $4k...but man do they look nice. The 40' ones are not too much more.
It's good to get that much base under it. Your patches don't even show. I use construction adhesive all the time...great stuff.
That makes a nice set-up with the container. Enjoy!
Notice how the center shaft is not in line with the input and output (on Wes's picture)? Forward moves that shaft out making more, not less clearance and reverse jams it in tight at a very low angle. It appears to me that having these shafts adjusted with light preload will be the best that one...
Nice work, looks great. I don't see multiple holes from fork trucks like many I looked at. Are you attached (passage) to the container? There sure do seem to be a lot of different sizes of 280's. I wish I had extra headspace in my 788, I have some left over T&G oak flooring.
I hope you find something on this but it appears to me (my opinion) that the position of the middle jackshaft is the problem and when in reverse, can force itself between the input shaft and the output shaft with a very low angle and extreme force. I can't see that there is a solution, but...
HEI distributor is the best thing any gas engine could have done to it. Did you use a kit or find the entire distributor? I had an M37 that needed it (but never pulled the trigger) and have an F600 that needs it also (kinda far down on the list).
I think there is one Alison 6 speed model that is not electronic. I believe it came in some busses. I read sometime back that there were controllers for the electronic trans available also, but didn't look into it further.
Greg, is the M42 a manual trans 6 speed? Is there an overdrive or...
To the gent that was offended, I apologize for the misunderstanding about the intent of my comment. The way it was received and extreme offense taken was not what was intended. No more PM's...issue over.
I didn't call you a liar. I made a comment that has been used here a lot regarding pictures. You bust onto the scene and have done a major job changing the engine and don't provide picture one, don't get mad at me for making a comment about pictures. Most of the people that take time to read...
I found a nifty use for paint brushes that I used with primer and planned on disposing of (didn't want to waste the $10 paint thinner cleaning) after they got hard. I use them with used synthetic oil from the PU and spot apply the oil, to bolts, etc.
Your method is certainly more effective...
The brakes on my M35A3 4x4 project have a split system, 50/50 master cylinder, air assist. It has 1 1/2" on the front wheel cylinders with (2) rear axles originally being 1 3/8" dia pistons changed. The rear axle wheel cylinders gets changed to 1 1/2", matching the front. I expect it to stop...
Bobbing is technically cutting the frame shorter. I'd use a M931 and not cut it. Then you have a really nice pintle hitch ready to go + air brake control for a trailer. M105 beds look good on them. I do like the 4x4, reducing weight, drag and cost of 2 tires. And the 5 ton can cruise at...
That one was the ugly duckling $200 special when nobody would bid version...blond, but really abused. She cleaned up nice and has a straight floor.
Welder is probably 450-500# and it's forward, so the tongue is much heavier and thus gets a heavy, fixed position jack (mounted on 1/2" plate)...
I've bought 16, sold 14, mostly 5 tons. I have an M929A2 and an M35A3 (which is my current) 4x4 project.
I think you will find the best deal (per pound) on a 5 ton. If keeping up on a highway is not an issue, the deuce is smaller but not really easier to drive. I suggest the short...
