To date I had this happen once with both my trucks.
On the M1078A0 it was a battery that had a bad cell and was under-volt (11.7v). The others were fine. I pulled the bad battery and the other one outboard, and just ran with dual batteries.
Just yesterday I resolved the "no start click" on...
iirc there is about 24" to be reclaimed between cab and what would normally be the end of the tire mount (on a M1078/M1079, not sure the total on the 6x6 with the cooler)
I've seen that number posted before on a couple of builds. @coachgeo may have that number as well. If no one posts it...
Btw:
The "click" was coming from the small relay just above the upper frame rail.
I have to assume that is the "remote starter relay"?
There are clearly the two hots (heavy gauge with red covers) and the two black wires (top and bottom).
In any event, it was beating on the starter that got...
Did that with a ball peen hammer at the get-go three weeks ago.
After chasing every possible relay and ground, I fucked up went with replacing the batteries (well, I re-configured from quad to dual bats). Since they were showing 12.3v on all four, and the dash gauges were reading 11v and 22v...
Ask Sean Filner
He's still swearing by coolant.
I think I will pass on all solutions until the day comes that I don't need the CTIS system.
Too much gunk potential....
Several threads have discussed balance media. Some using airsoft pellets claiming success (just make certain no oils are within the CTIS system as it will melt the pellets and gum up the entire works). And a few people are running liquid (antifreeze).
So I started with the batteries one last time. Dropped in a set of 13v+ bats that had been charged last week and still holding full.
The "click" I can hear is confirmed as coming from under the cab/driver side (assuming that is the starter relay). The starter relay is mounted just above the...
True but the South Texas coast is another story. We saw it dip below 32 degrees for a couple hours only twice this year (and we are already about to slide on into spring). If you don't like the conditions in South Texas, just wait until tomorrow.
But yeah, it's a *big* state as they also...
I'm curious about how this turned out. My A1R (which was running fine) is showing 12.5v-12.7v on each *wet* cell 6TMF batteries. If they were Hawkers I would say they are suspect, but being wet I suspect they are alright. Load tests all show good and they are wired correctly.
The other day...
Trial by fire, good for you. Being sure that I could get the spare off in the dark by myself was the first thing I did when I got my first truck. And a couple hours isn't bad for a swap. Pulling a tire off the truck and replacing it is one of those things best not rushed, IMO.
Looking forward...
I can deal with computers for 330 hp. I drove my A0 up a few hills in highway traffic doing 40 mph in a 75. Not really safe.
And off-road the added power doesn't go to waste.
ymmv
:)
It's the only way I would go. I'm from Texas and especially down South *if* we see a freeze it may be back in the 80's the next day. I'd much rather pop a few snaps on the grill than have to crawl around reaching up inside the rad when you need it.
There is a fellow over on FB LMTV about to drop in his 3.07's who was asking about methods and measurements techniques. If he is going this route, he would be a good candidate to tinker with it. Let me ask if he's a member here.
