    Turned away from camp grounds??

"People hate the military or any associated vehicles " Yeah, in CA. But I can't fathom why anyone but the problem would want to live there these days. Just sayin'

    A Guy, a Dog, an M1083, and 2700 Miles

I'd actually suggest staying on the beaten trail. Major Interstates are going to offer far more solutions to any issues that arise. I get what you're saying, but chances of getting assistance are better on a major trafficked highway. And that's an A1R truck. Those seats are actually quite...

    M1079 question?

    Ouch

    M1079 question?

They are to allow for the workbenches (which were heavy enough to easily have cu the aluminum flooring. Same with the ones added to the wall. Basically for reinforcement and wall/floor protection). It's respectable weight loss. Now "can" it be structural? Yes and no. What will be added to...

    Raised cargo cover?

Yes, but he has no side curtains. Once you go above 3" you start to lose the overlap of the sidegates and the cover's side curtains.

Wehring - Continental AC70 chevron tires and locker

Look closely and you can see his extensions. Keep in mind, at that height your side curtains won't touch the sidegates/tailgate. Note that his cover is merely a bikini top with no sides.

    Turned away from camp grounds??

RV parks are for the elderly. I camp off road or in the parking lot of strip clubs. Because, reasons...

    A Guy, a Dog, an M1083, and 2700 Miles

Beauty of a truck ! Yeah, keep a close on on those "may pop" XML's. They are *do* pops. I think 2007 was the last year they used them. In any event, look closely for *any* bulge that appears between the big "knob" and the rim. That's the indicator to watch for. And make certain that they...

    Raised cargo cover?

OK, the stock height at center point is 5'8" So if you add the 3" collars you get to 5'11"

    CTIS and Arduino

    It's listed below the video.

    Raised cargo cover?

Well it's +3" so it jumps to about 5'9" in the center I would guess. I seem to recall the frame is normally 5'6" I'll climb up in the trailer and measure later tonight.

    Raised cargo cover?

I just place collars under each of the six legs. You can easily add 3" of headroom. Much more and the cover won't have enough overlap on the bed's side panels, etc. Also any longer and you'd need to make an actual extension for the legs else you won't have enough footing to hold the frame in...

    M1079 and M1087 Box Attachments

Not shown are the installed springs themselves for the above setup. Just Google "captive spring" expedition suspension, etc.

    M1079 and M1087 Box Attachments

That is the OEM design for box/chassis flex allowance/limitation on the M1079. I've never seen how the 5-ton attaches, though.

LMTV as an RV in California

The CTIS has pre-determined "safe speeds" to operate the truck with less-than-normal air pressure. There is a dash indicator that comes on if that speed is exceeded. The CTIS is programmed to push the tire pressure back up automatically if the dash indicator is ignored.

LMTV as an RV in California

I think that the 55 mph rating is only on the Michelin "may pops" and ZXLs. Pretty sure that the Goodyears are rated well beyond 55mph for highway. Of course you always want to adjust your speed with any load scenario.

    LMTV splash guards

It's the exact same mount as the OP pic. The angled cover was only done on M1078 and M1079 A1 trucks I think. They were specifically for the chalks and chains. Mine is stock A1R and I suspect they found the final design more versatile.

    LMTV splash guards

Here's another angle on the hanger and divider.

    LMTV splash guards

The mount that extends back part way under the lift beam and makes a hanger for the top of the cover is the only real detailed fab. I've even seen a few folks who made these do it a couple other ways. After that, I would drop a "box" or "open box" in there and reclaim as much carry space as...
