Can I run tires without the runflats and PVC inserts?

The guys at tire shops have a tank that has a ball valve and nozzle, putting a bunch of pressure into the tank and then releasing it in big volume inside the tire. It's a bit safer than either or hair spray....still a violent event.

Can I run tires without the runflats and PVC inserts?

Are all HMMWV, M1101/2 trailers equipped with run flats (from the military)?

T245 completely rebuilt but have one question

Very professional job on the rebuild....looks great. I had a Dodge powerwagon (truck model) a long time ago. One modern adaption that you may want to look into is electronic distributor insides to replace the points. That is on my bucket list for my F600 boomtruck. I believe it is available...

Is anyone going to Findley that could bring an M105 trailer back to North or Central Indiana?

    M1101/M1102 Trailer Body Panels

I had some damage area on an M1101 that I bought when nobody would bid. It sounds like nearly the same damage. Here is a photo of it with the areas removed and made to fit my S-788 enclosure. Once the top rail was removed, getting into the inaccessable areas was much easier. Steel rivets are...

Can I run tires without the runflats and PVC inserts?

Wow....how do you do that cut? Edit....is that a bandsaw cut? Yes rigid is what I was thinking. The width dimension would be critical and I assume one brand to another of tire may have thicker or thinner beads. It wouldn't matter so much with the rubber. A woman whose hubby was putting...

Can I run tires without the runflats and PVC inserts?

A PVC schedule 40 that is 18" od is 16.803 inside diameter and has a .562 wall. Schedule 80 18" is 16.01. With a schedule 40, some small spacers would keep it centered. Edit....that is an odd size but a commercial pipe supplier in Kokomo IN can get it @ $37/foot for a 20' piece. Thus a stick...

Can I run tires without the runflats and PVC inserts?

Henderson rubber ones I have have air passages in them. They are all 20". I have not had a HMMWV 16.5" apart that has the RF in them. From the weight of the ones I have, they may all have RF in them. Here is a trailer I made that gets the M35 bed as a dump...4 there and then the M1101, 2...

Can I run tires without the runflats and PVC inserts?

Have any of you made bead locks from pipe? Is it 16" schedule 80 PVC? I have too many to buy them at $50 each (trailers). On the page Suzukovich linked there are holes...I'll assume those are to lighten them, but do they have other purpose? I note other beadlocks (20") have air passages...

    frame when using m105 springs

The spring pack on my 105 is huge and includes the overload. While removing a few springs would soften it slightly (and reduce height 3/4" if I'm using the 5"), I'm undecided about keeping the overload. If it really has a load, I might be glad I kept it. Here is the question of the day, how...

Behr Paint Jobs- Show me your MV's

Is that Behr? I get a bit of rust coming back in places with the acrylic latex. I'm going to get rustoleum flat black and have them put blue in it to match the military black for the frame and drive.... stick with oil based on the lower areas. I have a wetter climate here.

Grove Crane Winch for HEMTT's, MTV's, LVS and PLS.

I believe there may be a roller that I'm missing on the spring loaded piece that holds the cable against the spool, so when the line is slack, it does not unwind. I had the few SS pieces to plumb it to trial fit the hydraulic lines.

Grove Crane Winch for HEMTT's, MTV's, LVS and PLS.

I'm going to update this thread. A lot has happened. The winch is back together, but taken a back burner to the other 22 "projects". A SS member made me an offer to sell an entire 4 section Grove crane at a great price , but I just couldn't do it. My project is an M35A3 4x4, so a smaller...

    frame when using m105 springs

Thanks GG. I watched the video. I measured the distance on the M105 frame to the bottom of the spring pack and went to each axle to compare. At the rear I have an average of 2" difference as it sits and on the front, 3". So my rear must have sagged a little. That's without altering the 105...

    Axle/brake rebuild questions

No put down of jack stands from me. I have a couple that are chintzy and a couple that are good. Are you going for 4, 2 or only 1? This is a job I would want access to all, thus need 4. But I have a lot of large blocking and move large machinery....building up 2x4 from HD is not the same...

Help mounting 395s on FMTV wheels

I don't see any mention of beadlocks? Are you using the heavy run flats?

What did you do to your trailer today.

If you mean a smaller rim and tire, like 16" and not the HMMWV 16.5", they are the same as most 8 lug trailer rims, many Ford and Dodges and GM (8x 6.5"). Like here; https://www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-Tires_and_Wheels-sf-Tire_with_Wheel-sz-8_on_6~1%7C2_Inch-pc-16_Inch.aspx

    Axle/brake rebuild questions

How do you plan on using your truck? The definition of "bobbing" includes shortening the frame and bed. I'm working on making my M35A3 into a 4x4, but not shortening the frame, therefore technically not bobbing....still major changes. And buying 5 tires rather than 7 does come into it...
