Since my BMV is seeking guidance and policy from AAMVA, I would like to know if MVPA is participating in their development of policy. Please ask your MVPA contact if they are.
I don't think so, since they have a website (www.aamva.org/aamva-policy-positions/) and are a national association. Maybe MVPA is working with them, but we should know that for sure, not assume it.
Maybe when you meet, Al, ask your representatives if AAMVA or MVPA is involved?
Here is the reply from my State Senator Rand Head;

"Thank you for following up with Senator Head’s Office regarding your concerns with military vehicles. Senator Head contacted the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicle to request information on the current regulations...
Well like everything else, just using it is not enough, I have to modify it. It's my MO....create more work for myself.
I'm thinking of a rear tail addition that folds down for ramps, but only comes to deck height and has a solid block to the frame + air bags. When up, it is 10' of deck...
"I don’t think we would stand a chance in a law suit, if they pull all former MV’s tags."
We may find out, especially if we do nothing and have no unity.
It will be interesting to see it happen one state at a time and listen to all the people that cry about it afterwards.
Anyone that wants to dump an A3 really cheap since prices are going down on such an ugly, repulsive truck, be sure to contact me before it's entirely worthless and you have to pay to get rid of it....I can solve that problem.
None of us have signed an "off road only" like HMMWV's did. Sorry...
I'll take a look, the photo is not clear enough. I think I recall it's flat, so I'll check.
But on the rear, the angle is not controlled by that plate, the "dogbones" control the angle of the axle.
Steve, you have a beautiful truck. I'm not saying you won't get 20 offered again. The A3 is a wild card.
Other than having a full length frame, I plan on mine looking a lot like yours. I'm still trying to decide what to do with about 30" from bed to back of cab.
I know I sat on the...
Sorry, I guess I was lamenting my own tire problems. I have the 14.5r20 as well and just removed 5 that are cracked bad and had some rim rust going on. If yours are not cracking, that is a big plus.
When I see the number of hummers being sold with asking prices above $15k....made in massive numbers compared to the 5600 A3's...a preserved OEM A3 will, I believe, greatly appreciate in value.
I don't know about modified ones....but I like the Cat and that it's not 23,000# empty.
I look for things that I want on one and they all contribute to my perceived value. I am NOT a retail buyer (used to have 2 and now have one that is getting highly modified). I've been buying and selling MV at my place for about 7 years (bought 16 trucks), so do track prices.
While I...
The value as original and limited will be more important in 10-20 years. I bought mine thinking I would keep it original but now I'm going to make it 4x4...so kinda blows the historical originality thing. I was surprised how strong the 3116 could accelerate, I still have 3 forward gears, and...
I have cable on my boomtruck and it works fine. It's the easiest. Use the shortest cable possible and still get long bends. Do you have the bracket for mounting the cable to the PTO? Picture shows one but on a different PTO than yours. It has 2 U bolts for holding the end.
While the 5 ton...
Yep, that's why I didn't buy any. Lots of people saw that and ignored it....I don't defend them except to say there should be a path to road use through "assembled", since half of the sales are parts...few complete units.
Who did the rebuild on the transmission (were they certified Allison) and did they have the locking torque converter rebuilt? Was it total replacement on all steels and frictions?
When you added the hoist, did you reinforce the bed rails?
Does it have 365/80's on it and are they checking...
