Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2017 - November VOTE HERE!

Worthy causes indeed! Except I’m not voting for a cause. I’m voting for a vehicle of the month. Time, money, love and lots of hard, very hard work that went into them. This isn’t a contest of the best cause. It’s about the truck. Of course I agree 100% in the organizations his truck...

    Nasty brake fluid

I assumed it would be same part number(s) for the K30, but wanted to be sure before ordering. They are. Good tip about the lube after use. Thanks

What exactly was done with this MSE modification? M101A2

It’s identical to my other M101A2, with the exception of the racks that were bolted to the sides and floor.

    Nasty brake fluid

What Russell part number did you use? They do not list a K30 on their website. Just a K10/20

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Installed new GP relay today. Now I will know it’s history and time. This is the one I used. Made in USA!!!! Edit Forgot to add that this is the exact same one that was on truck when I bought it from Govt.

M1102 cover question: roof support dimensions

I have seen the panels often on eBay. Fyi.

    M1101 vs. M1102?

You don’t lock those out. The brakes are FreeBack style. Meaning that you can backup a loaded trailer and the brakes will not engage. Hence the lack of a lockout pin hole. Dexter makes them and complete new brake assembly’s are available for the M101A2. Direct bolt on and no modification...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Very happy with the GM light. Cord is 5 feet long and will reach past opposite fender. So changing tires at night or working up front, no more holding flashlights. I had totally forgotten about these lights until I saw it at the salvage yard. Think I will get another one or two and install...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Just tried it out in the dark and it is VERY nice! Puts out more light than you would think. Wish I would have added this when I first bought truck.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

When I was at the salvage yard in AZ, picked up a ton of small items. One is this GM UnderHood retractable Work light. Works great and will install it in my M1008A1 engine bay. Yes I know it didn’t come on a factory fresh cucv and probably wasn’t even available yet on civi trucks. Was only...

    M932A2 CTIS 5 solid lights

It’s definitely an expensive system to repair and maintain. I’ve spent too much on mine already with lots of new parts and am still chasing CTIS gremlins. It’s a pain to have to do it manually, but a whole lot cheaper. I’m about ready to install Schrader valves on the wheels and be done...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

With the GPR1, isn’t there a chance of a blade terminal coming off from vibration? That style solenoid isn’t typically used as a replacement from what I’ve read here on SS.

    Heater blows cold

Replace thermostat with the correct one. The 6.2L takes the “hockey puck” style. Other standard style will work, but is wrong for this engine. This is the correct one. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/chevrolet,1984,k30+pickup,6.2l+379cid+v8+diesel,1053021,cooling+system,thermostat,2200

    Heater blows cold

There’s another thread on this page that covered this somewhat. Bent linkage would explain blowing cold air, but not cold hose. Sounds like a possible clogged heater core. Maybe just coincidence with your friends using it. Did they go four wheeling? Maybe knocking something loose inside...
