Yea, at least partly Al, like the 1101/1102. They also look a bit narrower but not sure. They went rather high priced (not compared to retail). Many had the wrapping on what appears to be a tool box, so they appear new, not used.
Sold my 817 and now have a 929A2 so have a reasonable comparison. There is a lot more bounce with a loaded dump truck with the single 14.00's. If I had a choice and money was not an obstacle, I'd do the dual 12.00's on the tubeless Al rims. But red's (I think it was him) recent breaking of...
I think you will find that you have to pay for quality, be it on the auction or with a private individual.
Patience pays off. Having cash at an opportune time is important. If you are a gambler, go for the auction. I think the same addiction exists with the auction as does a gambling...
Sure, makes even more sense for a 1082 or better yet a 1095. 1095's are hard to find and of course I have the 1061. Since I'd use it with the 931, I'd leave the heavier axle if I had a 1082.
I have an F450 van/bus (for salvage) that has a wide and low suspension (dual) that would be great...
I have my M1061 attached to my M931A2 tractor and thought about changing the pintle connection to a 5th wheel, then building a dump bed that goes forward of the trunion.
I need to haul a large amount of black muck dirt to a retail location on the other side of my farm and go out on the road...
Here is how I repaired my 817 and the newer M929A2.
I'm switching to the 395's, have put them on the rear, but if I had my choice, I'd have dual 12.00's on tubeless rims. The 817 was a more stable ride with a load than the 929.
If you don't use it for a commercial purpose (for payment) you do not need a CDL. I suggest you buy one already titled in another state. There may be lots of hidden problems when buying from a few small photo's on GP that seeing it first hand can avoid.
Robo....that's a NICE truck. I love that style. I had an 817 and probably should have kept it, but found an 929A2 at a good price.
Your truck looks straight and the bed or gate not abused or badly rusted. How far are you going to rebuild it? Do you have Behr paint available?
I worked in...
Have a police vin check (fill out the form) and take your bill of sale to your DMV and apply for a title. I'm not sure about Texas but I have titled 15 mil trucks without an SF97 with just a receipt and police vin check. Forget the 17 digit number and use whatever is on the nameplate.
Perhaps you have not noticed the cost of these SS is about twice the prior truck price and that there have been numerous failures associated with electronics and high water.
Sorry but I can't agree that the "progress" we have made is as profound as comparing a deuce to a model T. I can push...
A set of the G177 11.00r20 would last you a lifetime...the cost of special rims hardly seems worth it even for free tires. Myself, I like the 11.00r20 rears and the 14.5r20 for floatation on the front.
I have an M35A3 that I would consider selling. I bought it with the Allison tranny slipping and have one fully rebuilt, ready to go in (but have not had time to do it). I also have 2 new seats and a new (not used) drivers door with glass.
This is a nice truck if you can put some sweat equity...
