I have steel wheels with a similar bolt issue. The inner spacer is DOM tube cut to the thickness (a little less) of my steel wheel plate. That spacer could be much longer and fit both wheels.
I think the pilot issue has been discussed already but I'm not sure of the outcome. If going to 1" bolts, there would be hub machining involved also.
Wes, is the center hole tight around the hub to be "hub piloted".
_____________
Okay, your post beat mine....I'm glad to hear they are hub...
I sold some of the 14.00 NDCC to a friend with a bridge truck and he sent me a PM asking about more tires. Do you want to sell a few that are in very good condition? FYI, I sold them at 120.
It that still stud piloted and would going to larger studs make sense? Wes, do you have any photo's of the bolt hole and how it is piloted, maybe a link to where this has been discussed?
Too bad the piggy bank is empty.
Sounds like about $2k would get the rears in 12.00 (used) with the rims, then going to the 395 in front (which I have, but will keep an eye out for some 375/80r20's fronts).
An M812 bridge truck does appear to have a wider bed.
Do you really want a vehicle that needs a wide load permit (even to move it from place to place).?
Wes provided some great info and pictures in my thread here: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?169126-Duals-on-M929A2/page2
Note that the rims he is referencing can do nearly the same thing and not require an axle change (but does require bolts). And while I have not seen them...
The link doesn't work (at least for me).
My 931A2 has a problem with battery going down and when low, the fuel cutoff solenoid will not pull in to allow it to start. If I manually pull it in, it usually starts and stays. When well charged (from my charger), all seems to work fine. Are...
My 92 year old dad was a crew chief (top gunner). On the first mission they got shot down and ditched in the English Channel. He flew 37 missions after that.
The 12.00r20 dual doesn't happen to get wider than 8'6" does it?
Would those rims mount 395's ? I bet that combination would get over-width and maybe touch.
Is that on a tubeless rim? I know it's thicker due to being aluminum. Is it the same otherwise, width and spacing between tires?
I just bought 395 XZL's from Feltz.
Not necessarily keep the 14.00 but I do want to stay with the wider flotation fronts. Maybe 395 but even then they are a couple inches larger diameter than the 12.00r20.
Loaded, I'm not as stable as my 817 was. And if I went back to 11.00 (don't really want to), I would need the 365r20...
Is there a tire/rim configuration (size and weight capacity) to dual up the rear of an M929A2 and have the same rev/mile as on the fronts ?
With a load, I want more stability than the 14.00 is giving me.
I have 4 flat spots on the rear Goodyear's that makes things even worse.
LOL....that's fairly well my position. It was painful to tell people I'm selling the tractor...it's the cleanest, nicest truck I have and with only about $20K of trailers (dump and removable goose-neck)....would be a great work truck. A new stainless dump body would be perfect ($12K) too.
Wow..that's a problem. From the rust on the hole, it was not recently done. What model truck is it?
If for some reason you keep it and need a PTO, I have a couple NOS kits left.
If I were forced to weld this frame (which I know everyone will discourage), I'd V it out some and use 7018 or...
