Very often it's just dirty switch/relay contacts, capacitors that need to reform (radios, etc), and the like. Just USING the vehicle you will often notice that things start working on their own after a little bit of operating time.
It is pressurized. Not particularly to withstand any specific attack though it would probably help in terms of NBC. The real concern is the missile exhaust gasses and the dust kicked up by the launch. Some of these missiles can travel like 300-400 miles.
The AC system would be running in...
Perhaps AC was generally ordered by HIMARS units to install along with the cab cause the one's I have seen did have it though it must have come separate from the cab - the surplus used HIMARS cab I have doesn't have any HVAC components left in it as they would have been swapped into the LSAC cab...
You will find MANY unused connectors on every vehicle made in the post-WWII era. The wiring harnesses are built in a modular fashion and connectors are added so that features can be added or subtracted depending on how the vehicle was ordered and in some cases the connectors are supplied for...
Correct. They are expansion valve systems.
The earliest AC I believe was developed for prototypes and I think was always an option but just one the military rarely ordered till the HIMARS Crew Protection Cab was fielded around 2001. Those all have AC out of necessity as do all armored cabs...
I would caution that the CAT water lines have flexible stainless braided sections to account for thermal expansion between the 1200 degree exhaust and the 200 degree engine. Hard piping it like that is asking for a stress fracture near one of those fittings.
Yep. The coolant lines for it are the fun part to track down. CAT can get them though some are special order and you have to wait for them to make you one. The M-ATV is actually the 370 HP variant of the C7, and the more common source - over 10,000 have been built. The Stryker uses the 350 HP...
Very sad for the employees. BAE was defrauding the government though. The DOD sued them.

So you can thank the British for screwing over Sealy TX.
The software is a free from Dana and runs on anything back to Windows 98. Then you just need a laptop and heavy-duty truck diagnostic interface - Dearborn DPA-IV or DPA-V is my preference......
As to who specifically - you can send me your module if you like.
Virtually everything is different. Go back and read the thread. You're pretty much on your own. None of us have worked on them and most haven't seen one in person.
Call Stewart and Stevenson. They still exist......
Can always contact Red Dot with the part number. Never hurts to ask......
The new versions of the Gen II have the ProTecht module: http://firewall.reddotcorp.com/pdf/eadvantage-2011%2006.pdf
Does this alternator have the VR with the diagnostic LED's and if so what are they doing? You can also just completely disconnected the truck from the alternator and hook it to a couple batteries on the floor with jumper cables and hit the E terminal with a 24v lead to turn it on. If it acts...
No that is correct. It will only get the 24v from the PPD/LBCD which drops the voltage from the batteries across its Schottky diodes that have about a 0.4v forward bias.
At any rate that E terminal signal only needs to be present momentarily on the later units and that will turn the regulator...
HWY does not drop pressure. Partially because the system has to account for pressure rise due to temperature, and partially because they want the ability to manually inflate higher and not have the controller fight you.
