Ronmar is correct below in how to rotate it by hand. Turning the engine by hand without lubricant won't hurt it. If the steps in the TM result in the belt slipping you can remove the alternator and use the teeth on the flywheel to get rotation but that's obviously more intensive to to get to...
Lets take it step by step to the major decision making points for determining if the vehicle is worth the re-investment. I broke it down into 4 sections to help you put minimal time and money into the machine.
Disconnect batteries
Drain all fluids and I mean ALL fluids.
Open turbo intake and...
Recovered and finished going through this 07' reset M931 tractor. What a gem! 45 hours, 1125 miles. Everything is nice and tight. Just needed PMCS and to replace the typical rotten soft lines plus new batteries. I may replace the steering wheel because I feel it deserves it. If I had a spot in...
Revived this M930A2. A rare truck for sure and worth the effort.
Auction listing states:
Doesn't start - false, dead batteries.
Doesn't run - false, bad fuel line.
Transmission doesn't engage - false, see above.
No keys - true!
Bonus: all the red wasps you can catch!
2019A works for the FMTV and should for the MTVR. As long as the program is more up to date than the flash file (rule of thumb) you're in good shape. Odds are the specific flash files for our trucks haven't received updates in many years.
I don't have much difference in the ride quality on my A1R trucks. They are quieter without the bounce of the air bags and frankly it doesn't throw my drink around as much when driving. Generaldisorder has some good insight about the shocks (above). It's nature of the beast until you're willing...
I had one more that sold in July. A1R trucks are very few and far between, especially MTV (6x6) variants. There's a M1085A1R for sale on facebook market plate right now for $49,999.
It's an A1R so it has the heavier coil over suspension and the HIAB crane in place of the Grove crane. There must be a lot more to the HIAB since it's a direct point lift crane. Also, I'm getting fat. rofl
Took the M1084A1R out to get a scale/weight ticket to satisfy the State of Texas's new requirement for vehicles over 10,000 lbs to have a weight on their title. She clocked in at just over 28,000 lbs. That's a lot more than I was expecting.
