You should be fine. They are tested to run in desert conditions.
For one the LPW4 engine on the 803 is ~1,800cc. The engine on the 003 is ~2,300cc. That itself isn't a predictor of power output but I can say the higher rotating mass of the larger engine will certainly help it handle surges better.

I own both. The MEP803 is a great unit and a beast in its own right but a good running MEP003 will run rings around a MEP803. ESPECIALLY in handling surge loads.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but we don't have any technical info on the inverter itself. That is something a number of us here on the forum have wanted to find in an effort to facilitate repairs to the inverters but that has been an unfulfilled desire.

Or you could go with the 10xx series machines that can parallel out of the box. By the time you do all the work to make an 80x generation machine do it, you've already paid the price difference to get 10xx machines.
And by complex it means replacing parts. The 802 or 803 shouldn't be paralled in their stock form. The voltage regulators as an example aren't designed for parallel operation and would have to be replaced with one that was designed for it.
You can browse fleabay for parts. The other option is to become a supporting member and post up a wanted list in the classified area.
Some parts are generic and easy to find but some are not. If you need a relay, those are pretty cheap. Need gauges or one of the larger multi-contact switches...

Has anyone successfully replaced the cooling fans on a MEP831 with something other than the OEM?
I've been doing some searches and fans in the 150mm aka 6" range that fit are not that common.
I'm in need of a couple at the moment.
Something else to consider is in the civilian world the 803 would be rated at 12.5-13kw. You don't want to run it quite THAT hard all the time but don't worry if you run it to 10kw for long periods. It should live for that.
