I finally got it unloaded from the flatbed. It was more than a little sketchy. The excavator is some of the best $$ I've ever spent.
I have to say it looks really nice behind the M1081. :D
Man, heartbreaking that its gone so sideways. I just picked up at H140 that needs some love. Crossing my fingers that it works once I have the visible issues corrected.
Did you end up selling the remote? I may build one for mine if I can't find one for a reasonable cost.
Yea, that falls in line with what I'm thinking. I may toss it up for sale but wasn't expecting a lot of interest.
The smaller trailers that go with the single generator setups are a pretty easy to sell. This is the first powerplant setup I've won at auction.
I brought home a MEP802 powerplant setup today. The generators will be heading off to new homes soon. I'm curious if there is much of a market for the trailer?
Does the air over hydraulic brakes make it more challenging to sell?
I've just had the same situation on a recent auction buy. The rear injector was frozen. I removed it and removed the top so I could get a good dose of penetrating oil in there. After a good soaking and manually working the fuel rate selector back and forth, it loosened up.
I put it back...
Correct. It can be modded to do single phase. I'm still skeptical that amount of power is going to be needed on enough frequency to keep the machine healthy. Running a MEP004 at 5kw is even worse than running a MEP803 at 5kw.
Yep, I have one with around 250hrs on it. I sold it to a neighbor and it turned out to be WAY too much for him so I got it back when they moved. I need to go through it and get it up to spec before putting it up for adoption.
An 802 or 803 are pretty much interchangeable in regards to reliability.
Based on the info provided so far I'd steer you towards an 802. It should cover you for the vast majority of your backup needs with more reliability than a 831 and burn less fuel than an 803.
The question I would ask is what is your "base load"? How much power are you drawing 60% of the time? I doubt its anywhere near 10kw.
The reason I mention this is if you aren't loading these generators up enough you will have problems with them. I have a 10kw here at home and its WAY TOO BIG...
I recently bought 3 of the Gen5x2 chargers. One for the MEP803, one for the MEP802, and one for the M1081. All working perfectly. No need to disconnect anything. Just wire it to the batteries and you are good to go.
To jump ahead a bit, have you turned the engine over yet? If you haven't, thats good. Once you have fuel pumps figured out, you'll need to verify that the injection pump is free. You should remove it and free it up before you start it. Failure to do this will damage the pump. Its not the end of...
Build one using some copper tubing. It will take you some time but it can be done. If you measure the inside and outside of the connector on the generator you'll see that is compatible with a couple sizes of normal "L" copper tubing. Take the larger size and slit it so it fits over the outside...
For the purposes of backup power, don't beat yourself up over phase imbalance. If this was a PRIME application where the generator ran months and months then maybe I would worry.
Give the transformers a look and see how they are wired. A photo of the data plate with wiring diagram would be helpufl.
Are they sending a single phase of 480v with a neutral (aka 277v) to create your 240/120? That would make the most sense and also be lower cost transformers since its a...
If you are determined to keep the MEP804 the simplest solution is to create a single phase critical loads panel with lights, fridge, microwave, etc on it for that "extra" phase on the generator. Run the other two phases to your main panel.
My setup here at home is kinda like that with my base...
