Hey All, Finally getting to my truck today while its warm. Supposed to be 64 today! And 72 tomorrow!! WOW what a difference.
Anyway, here is what I've found so far this morning. I pulled all the old plugs, they look fine, no bad build up or anything. Installed all the new plugs after testing...
Yeah, I usually keep a set of plugs on hand. But used my last set last year. And hadn't bought another set until the other day. Just wasn't expecting to have to replace them already. And yeah, I'm not working on it out in the cold these days. My un-heated insulated pole barn stays about 50 in...
Yep, we have some cold weather at times during the winters here. Used to live in Indiana, in fall of 2013 I was looking forward to moving this far south... but the winters followed us 🙄 One guy we knew at the time when we first moved here, said that winter was the worst he'd seen in 35 years...
Hi WWRD99 appreciate the info. Temps here as of late, have been in low teens at night. 20's during day. But it supposedly got above freezing today, although I didn't see any ice melting. But I went to drive the truck a week or so ago, and it had only been like 30's that previous night, and I had...
Hey all, I've went through 3 sets of AC Delco 60G glow plugs in the last four years. I know the CUCV can be hard on plugs, but this is not normal. But I can't find the issue. I know if one or more plugs burn out, then the rest get over voltage. But I shouldn't even have the first plug to burn...
Thanks for confirming that OEM are the same part # for both sides [thumbzup]
I thought this was the case, but wanted to confirm before I ordered anything.
The one's it has currently are just some cheap auto parts store replacements. Which is why I'm wanting to get the Wilson Delco Remans. If...
Hey All! 👋 I didn't want to make a new thread about this as we spoke some about it in this thread. I hadn't drove my truck in about a month, have had my Dad in and out of the hospital a lot lately. But I went to drive to town the other day and not only has the squealing come back, its back with...
just came across this thread while looking for some info about alternators. Its been a year since my last update to this. I figured out I had a leak from trans pan. I had just replaced the filter and gasket with AC Delco. But for some reason the gasket leaked, and I had properly torqued the pan...
here's my entry too
I need a new set of batteries for my truck, current one's are getting weak and this cold winter weather isn't going to help.
well, thats true. about how many feet does it take for all of it? I know the one line going from the front injector to the hardline is longer. I was going to order 10ft just to have extra, but I think about 6 or 7ft would probably be enough.
I'm going to order some Viton tubing soon, had some other 1/8" fuel hose to use temporarily on the line that was leaking. McMaster is $6.60 ft + $10 shipping now. Duda Diesel has it for $3.58 ft but shipping is $18....
Good idea on making the plugs, don't know why I couldn't think of...
Hey all, just thought I would post a "final" update about the alternator bracket. Had a bunch of other work I ended up getting into, but I finally got around to getting the passenger side stock alternator upper bracket I got from Hillbilly Wizard changed out, with the hacked one that was on the...
Well, I'm glad you brought this up about the return lines. Instead of a coolant leak, I found I had diesel fuel leak. It was the main return line connected to the hardline on the passengers side. I had bought some UV dye and put it in the coolant system, a couple days later I drove to town and...
Good question. Where I park I always have to back out before I can put it into drive. Next time I'll park the other way around and see if it does the same thing in drive. Either way, I thought it could be torque converter leaking down. I did have the cooler lines off about.... 2 years ago...
Well the original one's were cracked and splitting at the connection points where the clamps were. The first "new" one's I put on were the actual OEM kit. I don't know if they were NOS or what, but they didn't last.
I did not know that silicone rubber was permeable. Thanks for the info...
Just an update. I removed the locking hub guts again, removed outer axle nut and lock washer. Loosened inner axle nut all the way. Retorqued to 50lbs while turning wheel. Loosened and torqued to 50lbs again as per TM. Then loosened inner axle nut half a turn. reinstalled lock washer and...
wow... forgot this thread... five years ago... I need to read through it just to see what I have done to the truck before, as I have forgotten a lot of it now.
just so I don't continue to leave this thread hanging... I did end up replacing the heads with reman 6.5 heads, can't remember now how...
I have used that in most electrical connections. Can't remember if I put any in these new bulb sockets though. But I switched those two bulbs w/sockets with two other sockets/bulbs in other spots on the cluster (i think seatbelt and.... forgot the other). The place I put the original two, they...
