Thanks for the info. Am I reading this wrong? It looks like the engine speed sensor AND the vehicle speed sensor go to the transmission controller??
It was my understanding that the transmission needed engine speed, vehicle speed, and throttle position to work correctly.
First post here in this section. I searched around a bit to find the info on the engine speed sensor since the M1081 I recently purchased had a tach that didn't work. I didn't find a post with a concise breakdown of the problem so I decided to make one. I was thinking that the sensor was the...
Sure, it should be no problem to run the wiring in the attic assuming its rated properly and run correctly per code.
People make more out of unbalanced loads than is necessary sometimes. Like most things there are not hard and fast rules here that make the decisions for us. The best thing to...
TechnoWeenie, I hope yo don't mind if I expand on your explanation of PWM vs MPPT charge controllers a little bit.
A PWM charge controller doesn't actually convert any power. What it is in effect is an electronic switch that connects and disconnects the solar panels from the battery depending...
Don't forget that unless you are below the balance point for your heatpump the heat strips aren't needed. They will come on during a defrost cycle to maintain comfort but that is all. The reason I mention this is its an easy thing to install an emergency power interrupt for the heat strips to...
There isn't a hard and straight answer I can offer. Based on my personal experience if the load is at least 60-70% for the majority of the run time then its not a problem. If you are running 25-30% most of the time then as you are already doing you need to get it up above 80% long enough to...
Its unfortunate but the direct answer is - yes - running a 10kw machine with ~3kw of load causes this problem.
As already stated above you need to get the valves freed up so you have compression then run it with increasing loads until its working as it should. Cross our fingers the rings are...
You need to move the AM/VM knob one more notch clockwise to read 120v single phase.
The fist thing to do if your readings are bouncy is to twist the AM/VM knob back and forth till your hand feels like its going to fall off then twist it about 5 more minutes. Soaking it with some good contact...
I have a Fluke 87 meter that I bought back in the 80s when I was an electrician. It still works and I've verified its accurate with the Fluke 787. I've had to put 2 displays in it because they wash out over time but it is still kicking!
What experience do you have with power systems? I'm concerned that your response to my question suggests you are just getting started. Poking around in live circuits is certainly hazardous. You may want to reach out to someone experienced in the hands on stuff that can help you get started in...
+1 on spending some time on the wiring. Go wiggle every connection and make sure everything is tight. I've found SOOO many loose connections in sets. That is the kind of stuff that will drive you to drinking if you are chasing symptoms instead of going back to basics and looking for bad connections.
With the number of variables at play here its hard to say for sure. What I can offer from my thoughts is I would rather have a machine with 3000 hours on it that has been run properly and maintained versus one with 300 hours that has been abused.
For this discussion I'm ignoring fluids since...
Dad was a machinist. When I turned 10 he told me it was time I learned to weld. The 70's were a crazy time. :D
He started me on a acetylene torch with a brazing rod. From there it was stick welding with a Lincoln 225 AC machine.
I didn't follow in his footsteps to be a machinist but I am very...
