You can try using the starter but if it has so little compression that you can pull the recoil starter without the compression release I don’t think it would start.
Sounds like you have internal engine damage. You'll need to tear it down to get the rest of the story I'm afraid.
I'm guessing you have an issue where the piston is moving too far down the bore or you have a crack in the bore.
With that new info I would recommend pulling out the injector and blowing some air in the cylinder with it at TDC on compression stroke to see where its leaking its compression.
I've had that issue with brushed DC motors and PWM speed controls. What I did was use a H-Bridge and a cheap microcontroller to build a PWM controller. This gave me control over the carrier frequency. I was able to choose a higher frequency that was inaudible.
Just a thought if you really want...
The motivation for the hacked together frame is I wanted to have more fuel available for the generator since it going to be rainy at the racetrack this weekend. Fewer fill-ups will reduce the risk getting rain in the tanks. Thats the thought anyway.
Assuming this works out as I expect I will...
I have a fuel tank from a MEP003 that was parted out years ago. Figured it would make a good AUX tank for the other generators. Its super clean inside.
Hacked a few pieces of scrap wood together as a base to hold it and there ya go. An extra 12 gallons of fuel at the ready!
I'm going to cap...
I've removed those from the equipment I have and replaced with twistlok connectors. I had planned to use the MIL connectors but the plastic has deteriorated and become brittle leaving the pins unsupported. Even the NOS ones I bought were junk. I had to ditch them.
Yea, seems like you aren't getting any black smoke at all from the video that I can tell.
At this point I would say its either fuel quantity or timing.
Welcome to the forum!
The starter shouldn't engage in preheat. I recommend taking the TM and going over the wiring on S1 to make sure someone didn't put a wire in the wrong place. When you take a look at the switch you'll see plenty of extra terminals where someone can put a wire that shouldn't...
will it pull a 4
Thats interesting. I don't see a dramatic amount of smoke as I would have expected. Are you able to do smaller load increments when you get near 40a? I'm really curious to see the exhaust when you are at about the max load the generator will hold without bogging. You'll need...
