New to me m59 dump truck...

Getting closer. Drilled the holes in the frame for the lines and primary filter assembly. I also changed out the fuel tank guard which is specific to the short-wheelbase trucks; that m275a2 donor truck has been a huge help. The original was ok but just a little bent up. The new tank is now...

New to me m59 dump truck...

Since it was a little warmer today we dragged the dump truck out front and on to the concrete. We removed the doors/mirrors, the gas fuel tank, and passenger seat. My goal is to have the truck make its next move under its own power. We'll have to drill the frame for the fuel lines, install...

Hello, first Deuce, questions. PTO's etc.

Welcome to the site. The G742 GMCs have the PTO for the winch on the transfer case. They're not the same as what's found on the m35 deuces. You can use just the winch itself on your truck if you don't have one though.

    Stevens M416 data plates.

I've never seen an NOS Stevens specific plate, just the generic ones. You'll probably have to get one reproduced.

New to me m59 dump truck...

The previous owner of the truck stopped by today and brought along a couple more pieces. The original dump lever data tag and the driveshaft that runs the pump. It seems to have a pretty good curve to it but it will work one way or another.

    navy m35a2c

Also it's possible that an m35a2c data tag was all they had when they changed it.

    navy m35a2c

With the 01 at the beginning of the serial number I'm guessing it was built either in 1966 or 67. The data tag is obviously not original so I'd check the frame number to confirm the s/n. It looks to me like the exhaust ends at the rear tires which is found on the early multifuel trucks. The...

    ID antenna base and mount

Antenna bases that will fit include the mx-6707, as-3900, as-3916, and many others. You can also use an ab-15 with an adapter plate.

They should be there as I haven't done anything with the tractor specific pieces yet.

New to me m59 dump truck...

Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll wait and see how bad mine turn out before I get them made elsewhere.:)

New to me m59 dump truck...

I looked up the different part numbers for it and didn't find anything readily available. Figured it was just easier and a lot cheaper to make a couple when I get the time.

New to me m59 dump truck...

Although I haven't gotten anything done regarding them, I've figured out how I'll make them. Here's the picture Mackafd sent me of the spare tire nut, for those who aren't familiar with them. The square end is approximately 13/16" so the spare tire can be secured using the standard budd lug nut...

    The VTCS m756a2 Pipeline Truck

Almost non existent. Which I guess isn't a big deal since my heat is by Natural Gas.

    The VTCS m756a2 Pipeline Truck

Well, the snow almost melted. Loading an m116a2 in the back of a dump truck: Then this happened: I'll go ahead and blame this on Ahab since he brought up the lack of snow in the previous pics.:) More is on the way.

    Dreaming up an M37 build...

I think by the time it's all said and done you'll want to be at about 129"-130" for wheel base. We cut around 2 inches off the front of the trailer, and you'll want an inch or two of space between the bed and cab for room to tie down the cab canvas and/or cargo cover.

    Dreaming up an M37 build...

Those are the stock size, 9.00x16. They're about 35 inches tall. Here's what a bare m37 frame looks like. The two crossmembers that I'm standing behind are where the divorced transfer case sits. It's not the best pic but here's a picture of a long wheelbase frame with the reinforcement in...

    Dreaming up an M37 build...

I'll comment on the m101 bed idea. A stock m37 will be over a foot short for the m101 bed as it sits. Below are pictures of a friends truck we put an m101 bed on. This truck is not an m37, but a long wheel base version (about 14" longer frame between the wheels if I remember right, with a...

New to me m59 dump truck...

I would sand every inch of the exterior panels you want to look even, especially since your truck is CARC now. The rough texture of the CARC will show up in your semi gloss paintjob, and be especially noticeable next to parts of the truck you sanded smooth. I also wouldn't sandblast an entire...

    Building an xm381 style bobber

After 4 or so months of not working on the bobber project we've started getting some stuff done and other things started. Now the glad hand lines are hooked up, so the rear bumperettes and pintle supports can be bolted on for good. We also flipped the second crossmember behind the transfer...

New to me m59 dump truck...

Thanks. The paint I'm using on the dump truck is Gillespie Coatings paint, the color is 24087. Prep is basically sanding as necessary, and spot priming spots that need it or sometime whole panels. The only things I've painted for the dump truck are the firewall and the back of the fuel tank...
