6 months sounds about right for a DB Electrical starter, mine lasted less than a year. It also burned up some wiring and ruined the (stock at the time) starter relay.
I've got the correct PTO with accessory drive and the cab controls for a GMC dump truck if you want to use a somewhat stock setup. As I mentioned though you'd need to get a hydraulic pump on the drivers side to make it function without a ton of extra work.
Your best bet would probably be to add an aftermarket setup to a stock m211/m35a2 cargo bed. The PTO accessory drive that runs the hydraulics on a stock GMC dump truck (m215) is on the driver's side while 5 ton dump trucks like the m817 and m51 have the input on the passenger side so that would...
Now it's actually done.:-) The 40ft stepdeck came home behind the LT9000 with my brother behind the wheel. At some point military clearance lights with Packard connectors were added. It should be a good match behind the ex-Air Force Ford once both are all fixed up.
Welcome from across the lake. If an m105 is too large you could check around for an m101a1. Similar design but a little lower and built a fair bit lighter.
You probably can find the year without issue. There is a database of over a thousand trucks on g741.org. If you also post up some pictures of the truck that can help a little bit, most parts that tell the year are parts that can be changed but there are some production differences between...
m201 is a long wheelbase only, things have definitely been changed around. Data tag should be on the map compartment door, and as you know the serial number should be on the frame as well.
A few pics of the interior of the boat:
After going over the basics we've got the bridge truck running and driving in the yard. The throttle sticks a bit but it didn't take much to get it going after sitting for at least 5 years. The tank was drained so we're running it off a 5 gallon can on...
Well... it's done.:) ADM Hauling did the trucking and Guerrina Crane did a great job lifting the boat, both were very reasonably priced too. Much cheaper than having a wrecker company move it all.
We used the pipe truck to winch the bridge truck on to the trailer, it's much easier to move...
