    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

Installed a temp fuel tank today, test drove it down and back on my road, went well and stopped, reverse etc. Having never driven one it seems high geared, you really have to wind it out. Also seems like a lot of steering action, one of those wheel spinner suicide knobs would come in handy...

    Goat Project

Good job, engine running is a bonus.

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

Yes, given the problems others have had in the past I took extra time with them. I replaced the MC and wheel cylinders with new and carefully inspected and replaced the lines. Hope to make a test drive on my road today or tomorrow and see just how well they work.

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

Finished the brakes today, nice firm pedal right at the top. Installed all the drums then re bled through the access hole, used a Craftsman max access socket/ratchet they are hollow, ran the bleed tube right through the center, worked great. Installed a temporary set of batteries on passenger...

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

Bled the brakes, took a while to get fluid to all six corners starting with the furthest away from the MC working to the front. No fancy tools, hose in a jar of fluid and brakes strapped to they would not expand, this way I could easily see if there were any leaks. Today I will finish cleaning...

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

My garage is heated and the only time I would take it out in very cold weather is if I was stuck and needed to be pulled out. Got two brake drums cleaned and ready to go and filled the MC with fluid, have to work overtime tomorrow so the brakes will have to wait for another day.

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

Perhaps but I don't have one to replace it, mine was complete junk.

WSUCougarx's M561 Gama Goat Acquisition and Build Thread

There is transfer case troubleshooting in the -34 TM, but it does sound like something is worn allowing it to slip out. There is a thread here on another member changing one out with some pictures, might be worth taking a look at. The worst part about these machines is the one off drive train...

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

Nice, yeah my battery went dead and I did not know it. Good job on getting the head on, I filled mine with water tonight and ran it for 20-30 minutes, according to my gauge it maxed out at 160 degrees, not sure if that is normal for just idling. I have the timing gauge if you need one for the...

    Goat Project

That tag goes in the fuel strainer, it attaches to the strainer with a cotter pin where the safety chain attaches. Can't help with the transmission other than it should be within a year or so of the date of manufacture of the truck.

    Goat Project

That primary filter shows you what it's pulling out of the tank, nasty stuff. Good decision taking the time to clean it, that will save a lot of grief in the future. I'm debating on only using the drivers side tank and capping off the cross over fuel tank line. I doubt I would ever need 40...

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

I took the bilge pump out when I had the engine out like Tom suggested. My bilge pump screen was clogged solid with grease/oil and dirt, it's easy to get out with the engine out of the way. You could take it out through the access plate on the bottom of the hull if you had to. While I had the...

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

Checked the fuel lines for leaks with the deleted cold start, no leaks good to go. Parts required to delete the cold start assembly are a 1/8 pipe cap and a 1/4 pipe cap. Replaced the connector on the temp sender and oil sender, these connectors seem to break the wire insulation right where it...

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

I think it was up to who ever was running the de mil yard that day in 1995, they ripped all the fenders off, crushed the dash/cowl and punched a few holes in the RH side with a forklift. They never touched any part of the carriers. The dash and fenders are easy to replace, the puncture on the...

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

Ok, here it is but not too exciting, fenders are off and I still have the de mill punctures to repair which I need it a roller to get to the welding shop, sort of a catch 22 but it should be operational soon I hope.

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

Thank you for the replies, a couple other people have tried it with a shelter and I guess it really bogs it down. Hopefully when I add coolant there are no surprises. When I get home tonight I will replace the fuel return line and give it another leak test. Really need to thank Mark:-D and...

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

None really, just the data plate, the ambulance usually has a heater mounted front/rear. It's the carrier that has all the extra ambulance goodies although the bare carrier is identical. I will have a standard cargo cover made, not the ambulance cover. The cargo cover seems to be in short supply.

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

I don't have the rear insulated ambulance cover. It seems I got a mix of a ambulance tractor and cargo carrier. I have an original cargo cover that is ripped and I will use it as a pattern to have one made.
