I'm booked up this weekend but if you are coming through you are welcome to drop it by the house. I can give it a once over and let you know what I think.
Ha. Those guys are cool. I bought all the chevy volt batteries I have from them. The chevy batteries were too bulky.
I could see taking a MEP803 engine and doing a ghetto turbo then putting it in a Chevette or something suitably terrible.
I've been wanting to see if the timing circuits could be modified to accept an external reference. I have a couple of parts units and its on my list of things to do once I have a few other things scratched off the list.
I need to find a stator for an 831 to make that happen. If anyone has one...
I've not been on the forum so much lately or online in general due to a lot of changes on this end. Non life threatening thankfully.
Last weekend I took the time to go to the track for the weekend. We borrowed a friends camper and I decided to use the MEP-831 for power since its usually a...
I apologize but I'm having trouble following you.
You connected the generator and turned on your stove. What was the load meter reading when it tripped on overload?
How long did it take? Was the engine exhaust smoking?
We need a LOT more info to help you.
Need to know more about the situation. When you say stops it cold does that mean the engine bogs down? What happens to the load meter and the volt meter? Can you shoot a quick video of the event?
Have you load tested the generator?
I have a 3/4 horse well pump at 180' and a MEP831 starts...
You'll want to grab the Technical Manual from the manual section of the forum and do a bit of quick reading to get up to speed on how these things work.
If you have power at the receptacle but not the lugs (assuming you flipped the switch) you need to troubleshoot the circuit that energizes...
If the oil pressure light is on you will not get any control power. Nothing will work. The hour meter will not work. While its running with the oil light on click the start/run switch off and back on quickly enough that the engine doesn't shut down.
Standard wiring convention is to use RED and BLACK for load, WHITE for neutral, and GREEN as ground.
This might be a little late in the process to ask but what is your experience with wiring of this type? Are you comfortable with doing residential power wiring?
You can't change the breaker to the factory outlet. The wiring inside won't handle that much power. You will want to install an outlet on the main lugs of the generator.
I'll be happy to help with the generator.
Looks like you are only about an hour away if you want to drag it over to Efland.
Its pretty simple. You use a spring scale and adjust the magnet to get a pull-off force of 4 lbs +\- 0.25 lbs.
disconnect the governor rod from the governor bracket and use that hole to connect the scale.
Couple of items to unpack here.
1. This unit does have a true neutral. This is a 3 phase Y and not a 3 phase delta. If the AC unit requires a neutral that is no problem.
2. Do NOT set your VR higher to try and get closer to 240v between main phases. It is not necessary for modern appliances...
