New to me MEP-803a Needs replacement radiator

Its a challenge to get them and if you do find one its likely to abuse your wallet. I recommend pulling it and visiting a local radiator repair shop. Does the damage look too severe to repair?

    MEP 802 suddenly stops running

What you are describing is a high resistance current path somewhere. The symptoms of that kind of fault is an excessive voltage drop. You can use that to find the fault. You need to choose a few places around the main power circuit to take voltage readings to the ground terminal of the...

MEP-002A Left Connected when Main Power was Restored

The exciter circuit takes a beating when you backfeed a set. For sure need to check the rotating diodes and everything else in the exciter circuit before running the set again.

MEP-802/803/831 Generator Control & Parameter Monitor by WIFI Demo

I recommend using the 2-wire interface directly OR use a dedicated RF link that triggers the 2-wire interface. A wireless switch is tech that is off the shelf and easy to implement. It will be much simpler than putting more code into the controller that will need to be debugged. Strictly my...

New life for "Parts Only" Gensets, ex. MEP-002/003

For sure some familiar looking parts on there.

Fuel storage, 55 gal drum, vent adapter, moisture trap, drieriete

You can DIY one a lot cheaper. The desiccant is pretty cheap. On the simplest side you can take pretty much any filter housing and fill it with desiccant then plumb it into your drum. This is something that will last a long time. It will go a long way to protecting the fuel from moisture...

    Posible fuel leak or overflow?

That is definitely not normal. The usual suspects are the fuel lines around the engine and the well nut at the bottom of the fuel tank. You will want to carefully look around the engine compartment and see if there are any other areas in there that is wet from fuel.

    Posible fuel leak or overflow?

Did you see where the fuel was coming from? If you tilted it down towards the fuel cap it is possible to have some fuel leak from there. In general you should not see fuel anywhere on a properly working machine. Can you take some photos of what you are seeing?

Fuel storage, 55 gal drum, vent adapter, moisture trap, drieriete

I think they would work but you might find yourself recharging the desiccant more often than you would like.

Fuel storage, 55 gal drum, vent adapter, moisture trap, drieriete

You can pick up 2lbs of indicating silica gel on Amazon for under $20. That is enough to do several vent filters. Regen it in your oven or replace with new. The home-brew PVC housing would be fine a low cost option. I have a couple new drums to get into the fuel storage system. Maybe I'll give...

MEP-002a voltage not stable cooler weather

I saw that behavior on a 003 and it turned out to be the pots on the VR board. I gave them a few twists back and forth along with a spray of contact cleaner (making sure I reset them to where they were before I started) and the problem went away.

    MEP-803A sipping fuel.

At 4kw you should be in the 0.5 GPH range. If your estimate is correct you are a bit higher than the average. Lets hope you weren't leaking 0.25 GPH of fuel from the return line. Replacing the lines is a simple task. Remove the top cover over the engine for good access and you'll see its not...

Fuel storage, 55 gal drum, vent adapter, moisture trap, drieriete

Great post. Anyone wanting to store fuel should seriously consider a desiccant breather.

    MEP-803A sipping fuel.

Here its obviously more than lights. Its a fridge full of food and a well pump to keep the water going. Also a few creature comforts such as phone chargers and a fan in the window. I was working from home so I had my work computer powered up. There is a small server farm in the office that does...

    MEP-803A sipping fuel.

Utility power was restored last night just after sunset. Ran through the numbers on my end this morning. Total run time on the 803 was 16 hours spread over 2 days. When I started the fuel gauge was just under 1/2 tank. I put around 4.5 gallons from a fuel can in the tank to top it up. When I was...

    Ultimate well nut repair

The cut sheet for Parker does indicate that other materials are available upon request. I'm sure the minimum order will be staggering. I'm going the bulkhead fitting route when I next have to deal with these things.

    MEP-803A sipping fuel.

The repair crew has reached the downed line causing our outage. They said they would have to replace the pole. If they can avoid that it will be a quick fix.

    MEP-803A sipping fuel.

The sound of the 831 is more noticeable in the house than the 803 is. Too funny.
