The thing we need to consider in all this is that under emergency use we will never approach the service life of these units. If you are off grid then yea, you can rack up lots of hours. We have to work to put hours on our machines.
Running for tens of ours can easily be cleaned up with a...
No, it should come up to temp without a load. If it stops at 140 and you know that is a good reading you should check and see if you have heat going into the radiator. If you have heat the thermostat needs replacing.
I went a different route. I bought adapter fittings and I use refrigerator ice maker hoses. They are on the small side but they work fine on these small generators. Plus if a hose goes bad they are super cheap and readily available. Before people go all crazy.. They are PVC which is perfectly...
Meaning the bung and pickup tube kit or tank? I am watching for a retired semi truck fuel tank. I have the fuel tank for a MEP003 that is in excellent condition that I'm going to put on the trailer with the 803 to extend the run time.
If you look at load versus consumption you should see close to 0.6 gal/hr @ 50% load. At full load its around 1 gal/hr. At ultra light load it should be around 0.25 gal/hr.
If you ran at very low for say 10 hours then loaded it up for an hour at the end to make sure everything was tidy you are...
+1 on that. Run it like you need to and if you want to make sure the exhaust is tidy you can load it up for a bit before you cool-down and shut-down. That approach will save you some fuel.
I know this is most commonly used for an RV but I don't see why you can't put one on your AC at home. I've seen videos of these in action and they appear to make a HUGE difference. Soft starts are very common on industrial equipment. They are becoming much less so with the gain in installations...
You should be fine with that. What causes the most damage is energizing and breaking inductive loads such as motors on AC units. Having some light load connected isn't going to cause any serious wear and tear.
I hope the pattern here is becoming obvious. It is a good idea to exercise those switches on a regular basis. If you have one of the earlier versions use caution to avoid breaking the stem of the switch.
I do that with all my stuff. Including the breakers in my home electrical panel. Once a...
My experience says they are not the same. I had to redrill when I changed out a 003 for a 803. In my case I drilled the frame of the 803 to match the holes in the trailer. Drilling through the aluminum was easy with a battery drill. You should be prepared to drill new holes.
The manifold on these units are not designed such that you will see even EGTs from outside to inside. The higher combined flow at the center will yield you higher temps.
You should see how much difference there is on an inline 6. A difference of 15 degrees is nothing. If you were finding 150...
That is the reason why I tend to ask the person the with question if they have looked at the manual. Its not to be coy or a jerk. Those manuals are VERY valuable and have a tremendous amount of great info. These machines are not disposable like what you get a your local big box store. To me they...
One thing to consider is buying a brush that is a little bigger and cutting it down to size. Not ideal by any means but workable if that is the only practical solution.
Yep. Put it together and see if it will start. If you have a syringe and can prime the lines a bit with fuel the process will be faster. Its not necessary though. It is a self priming system.
Fleabay is one resource. I just looked and there are some listed. Prepare to have some serious butt hurt on the price though.
If you aren't in a hurry it might be best to have someone go through the ones you have. The devil you know is better many times than the devil you don't. It may be as...
