you should change out the starter relay, or unbolt the old from the dash for easy unplugging in case it sticks. replacement parts are cheap, surf craiglist for old blazers, pickups, and suburbans.
I've towed an m101a3 behind my 1009 with no problems, just put cucv wheels on it so it sits level. the empty weight is about the same as a m1101, so that should be fine...

heres a pic of the original lights, just use 12v bulbs in them, and you can swap out the lenses for bigger ones if you don't like the tiny cats eye lenses.
