Credit to doghead . The belt is ah little loose and I've ordered a new (shorter) belt. However in the interim I thought I'd give this stuff a try, and it...
I just put ah bottle of water wetter in yesterday, I haven't driven it yet to see, but it should drop the temp ah few degree's.....http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/red-line-waterwetter-80204/7120012-P?searchTerm=redline&zoneAssigned=1
If your interested in an aluminum rad. I'll be ordering one from these guy's when the time comes..............http://www.buyaradiator.com/i-s-2098aa.html
Agree with Doghead , the stock filter base can be fixed / rebuilt for less then ah dollar worth of O-rings from Ace hardware and ah piece of vacuum line. Although the 30 year old plastic sensors tend to be brittle, therefore the stock base is known to be problematic. The other choices are a NAPA...
I forgot to mention that when I pulled the heater hose off on that side it dumped some coolant down into that alt. Could this have shorted something out? I also removed the plug and cleaned, greased and reinstalled it today, But no change. Like I said it works fine once the truck warms up. But...
So I did the HMMWV coolant crossover swap ah couple days ago so I would have a better location to install my temp gauge probe. I had it installed in the port on the water pump ,but because of the cooler water flowing into the pump at that point . My reading was always 160. Now that I have it...
Ah couple quick questions. I did the HMMWV coolant crossover tube swap ah couple days ago. And now the Gen-2 light will stay on until the high idol turns off and I blip the throttle. When I did the swap I had to remove the passenger side upper alternator bracket ,and swing the alt down out of...
Just ah suggestion. Your going to want to coat the inside of that cross member with some rust preventative coating. And also it looks like you haven't drilled any holes in order to spot weld to that cross member...
If your replacing the cap you mite consider this one with a gauge in it. I have one on all my cars......http://www.summitracing.com/search/product-line/mr-gasket-thermocap-radiator-caps
Keep the expansion tank full. I've noticed with my truck ,I guess maybe because the system is so large. That every time I empty the cooling system to do some work , It takes about 5 or 6 heat cycles to refill / purge, the system. And it will not build pressure until it's full.
Here's one that looks pretty good, this site has ah ton of them..........http://www.winchdepot.com/Winches-Winch-Accessories/X2O-8-Winch-by-Smittybilt.aspx?t_c=18&t_s=300&t_pt=100702&t_pl=6426&t_pn=S%2fB97380
How much are you looking to spend? How many LBS of pulling power are you looking for? I found ah few but there insanely expensive. From what I'm finding 12V would be MUCH cheaper..
Here's another one.........http://www.quadratec.com/products/56111_50_07.htm?sgsc=C6Z06ZR1C6Z06ZR1&utm_medium=compshop&utm_source=googlemerchant&gclid=CNX58eTM08ICFQIQ7AodhzQAZg
Not sure the flow rate of our pumps but I found this one....http://www.mkmcustoms.com/borgesonhi-flowpspumpfor1994-2002dodgecummins.aspx?gclid=CJ6Rq7nK08ICFQNk7Aod62IAwA... It's the same Saginaw style pump as ours.
I bought my lines from advanced and they fit perfectly. I never bothered to look, or care for that matter if the "looked stock", my truck is a daily driver/work truck so originality takes a back seat to functionality for me and my truck.
My philosophy with these 30 year old trucks is this, "When in doubt replace". Especially if it's ah rubber part. If yours are the originals then I would replace them just for that fact alone. Remember these lines not only run the steering but the brakes as well. All that being said, I had a...
