Okay so now I'm having a new problem. Over the past few days I've bin able to drive the truck on the highway (empty). The temp is getting just past 200 degrees at a constant speed of 65-70 MPH (Gear vendors), but then cool back down once I come to a stop or slow to around 55 MPH for ah while...
Born and raised in Daytona, if you live in Florida long enough your blood thins and you get used to it. Ask anyone who moved from the north to FL then visits the north again.....Back on topic, I love my M1028, No washing, waxing, no worries about scratches.. The perfect pickup truck
In addition to that mine will get at ah wobble when turning at speed. For instance going down the highway at 70+ and there's ah bend in the road, you can feel the locker slop.
Permatex makes one , also ace hardware has a version. Make sure to get the one safe for fuel and oil. Here's one........http://www.permatex.com/products-2/product-categories/thread-compounds/thread-sealants/permatex--pipe-joint-compound-detail
Let me guess you got the new alt from Auto Zoneaua. What I know about electrical wouldn't fill ah thimble, but I'd said pull apart your old one first to see what makes it tick. If it wasn't to complex to get apart, then theoretically those parts should fit in your good housing... That being...
Agree on most cars I recall seeing always had the sensor just down stream from the thermostat. Thus as AECS said it should be the hottest part of the system.
I won't do any harm, in fact if anything it would help performance, but will make ah lot of noise. Back in high school me and all my friends used to flip the lid on upside down on or dads cars to make ah poor mans open element air filter.
From the factory these trucks didn't come with ah temp gauge or any reasonable place to install the sensor. The 6.2 in the HMWWV's had electric fans, temp gauge , and some other gadgets I'm not sure of. So the crossover tubes for them have 3 extra threaded bosses cast into them, allowing you to...
Another thing you mite want to check is the length of the probe for your gauge. The cheap Bosch mechanical gauge I have had a pretty long one . I don't think it would have fit in the top horizontal part of the crossover. All things considered It really wasn't worth it to me to have the truck out...
I suppose you could try? The only problem I would foresee would be do to the fact that it is pretty thin and made of cast aluminum. So it could crack or simply not have enough thickness to get any threads on. But if it did mess up you could have one on your doorstep for around $50.00 off ebay.
Update, I received and installed the new SHORTER #7480 gates belt for the passenger alt. Now the Gen-2 light goes off all buy it's self without having to blip the throttle. However the Gen-1 light still needs the blip to turn it off. The drivers side alt has the same problem. The belt is too big...
Yeah I'd like to know if and what you did to get this to work. I hooked mine up, tried it out, it worked, but then wouldn't disengage. I had to unplug it to get the gear vendors to work again.
