Yup, I found the details on the tires finally this morning before dawn (!) and see that they are tubeless, and the gasket, and the two-piece rims. Wow. Yes, no question that I'll be dropping these off at a professional tire place (or have them picked up). This beast doesn't have CTIS, so I'll...
Won this yesterday! I'm excited! I plan to recover it on June 4. Hopefully it will make the 180 mile trip home without any problem. GL's description indicated that the truck was driven onto the lot.
I've been looking through the TMs and posts here, but haven't been able to figure it out. Are...
I was watching the bidding LAST week on a bunch of M923s in Ft. Lee, VA. I was just sick. They all went for about $3,100 - running, good tires, canvas bed covers, cab hard tops - I was just crying.
Then yesterday, I was sick for the OPPOSITE reason! Prices sure seem to jump around!
If anyone on here won that wrecker in yesterday's auction that is located at Ft. Huachuca, and need want help recovering it, let me know. I work on base. I even have plenty of room at my place to store it for a while, if necessary.
I went over and looked at it on Wednesday, but didn't start it...
How far do you think I can take it with no turbo (by capping the oil line)?
I can get a replacement from Winslow, but I'd like to look at the option of limping it home.
I'll have to look at it more closely on Sunday morning. I won't be able to get back down there before then. Not sure why there was oil inside the engine compartment... but there was PLENTY all over the rest of the truck from being blown out of the exhaust stack! And it was running down the...
Pics. What an interesting concept!
No, actually I'm "on duty" now in Winchester. The truck isn't too far away from Front Royal, if someone else would like to stop by and take a look at it (hint hint).
"Busted turbo"
Hi guys. It's really me this time.
Thanks for the replies and offers of help.
Update:
Unfortunately, I misunderstood what I was told earlier... the NG was not able to help. I believe they were going to lend us a tow bar. Oh well. I was able to get the truck dragged into a safe...
Most recent update: The National Guard is going to tow him in to his final destination. He does not need assistance at this time. If someone has a spare turbo lying around, though, he is in need of one. Again, his cell number is (434) 996-0730. Thank you.
I do not know the exact nature of the breakdown, but "busted turbo" is what I was told to submit to the site. Apparently, he's leaking oil everywhere. As far as I know, the truck is stopped and cannot continue the last forty miles of the intended trip.
Thank you all. I do not know what his plans are at this time. If you are able to offer any assistance or know someone who could help him, then by all means, call him directly on his cell.
Sgt. Risk is on the road. This is his son at the computer. Need phone numbers for members in Front Royal and the surrounding areas. His deuce and a half looks like it has a blown turbo.
Sgt. Risk's cell is (434) 996-0730.
Okay!! Got it out with relatively little trouble. A little digging of snow, some coarse sand and a decent truck helping with a chain. Two tries and up it came. Frankly, I was impressed!!
BUT, those tires are USELESS on packed, slick snow!!! They work great in fresh snow, or something where they...
Well, there's a tree "near" by. I have my doubts about the strength of the rope I have... but I'll try ALL of the above!!! And take "real" pictures! :-D
Thanks again, guys!!!
Welcome!
Check out my post about HELP!! :) I'm just up the road and over the mountain from you. I was doing great yesterday until I slid off the road on a corner!!
I've got lots of free time right now. I can go with you to recover your truck, if you like.
Thanks for all the advice, guys. I'll try the digging and saqnd first, then maybe holde my breath and close my eyes while I try the 4x4 option! I womder if I could get away with just one side? Probably not.
I'll let you know what happens!!
BTW, we got about 24" of snow out of this storm. I'm...
I've got snow in front that it won't roll forward. And that box is about 18 inches from the bumper!! And that's not even the position I started out in!! ;) Kinda funny really.
I actually think (believe it or not) that I have towing on my new policy! I may just wait a day or so until the local...
